in the market for a tower for my bayliner 1750 . i have seen a couple that i was hoping u guys might give me some feedback on.monster seems too bulky looking plus they just jacked the price up on em.theres a whiplash for under 1000 but that sucker looks seven feet tall. atlantic towers has a cool looking tower for about 1200. typhoon comes with abulit in rack for under a 1000 but looks kinda cheap. big air pylons has a nice looking one for under a grand.
any help would be appreciated. i am trying keep my cost low so i can get a rack ,speakers and have enough left over for a new board
thanks |

I put a Big Air on my Monterey 180 and I couldn't be happier. The worst part is the fact that you have to drill everything to bolt it together. They give you starter bits that work great. The drilling wasn't hard just go slow with moderate pressure, it the fact that it makes a complete mess. Even with a tarp to catch the shavings I still ended up with a fair amount on the carpet.
Customer service was great. They shipped my tower with side braces that were too short. I installed them (because I didn't know they were wrong) and they ended up too high so I had a little bit of sway. I called them and the fed-exed two additional complete assemblies not just the fabricated portions. So now I have 2 complete braces on mine
IMHO, and you can take it for what its worth, The swoop style towers look awsome on wake and ski boats with the short side windshields. But on the runabouts with the long sloping side windows they don't follow the lines as well as a traditional style tower like the Big Air.
I sloped mine to just about the same angle as my windshield and the tow point is still 7 feet off the floor of my boat. _________________

Here is a good equation to help you decide.
MonsterTower + Bulky = reliable, durable, sturdy, very universal, structurally sound, indestructible, worth the money, no brainer.
Pay the extra few bucks and trust us all, you'll be happy.
MonsterTower stands behind their products unlike some of the other home built towers with big names.

| I helped my friend put a Big Air Pylon tower on his Glastron its a very sturdy tower and you can't beat the price. I'm about to install one on my boat. The installation was very easy if you plan on doing it yourself. |

I have a 01 Bayliner 195 LX Capri
I bought a Monster tower for the advertised price $1195
I brought it home and installed it myself with the help of two friends.
took us 4 hours, most of the time spent is measuring, looking, measuring, marking, looking, before the drilling.
I am mechanically inclined so it was not difficult by any means.
Drilling the anchors at the end of the tower installation took the most time, basically because you are holding a drill above your head for 10 minutes a pop (have to drill through solid aluminum, go slow)
the tower is so sturdy on the boat its not even funny, I took the time to adjust all 4 heim joints once the tower was installed. It is completely silent as promised, it does everything it states as promised, fits and looks great. I would buy another one in a heart beat. I would have a hard time duplicating a tower like this for the total cost and time invested, and I have access to Tig welding, benders, etc..
100% satisfied customer right here. |

Monster tower. "they jacked up their prices" because the cost of refining metals has skyrocketed. There is another thread about all that.
Anyhow, it is very solid, silent, and installed in about 4 hours.
Their support is great also. _________________ Be an organ donor! My father is alive today because of kind souls that donate life... |

How can someone who sells a quality tower for under $1200, have "jacked up prices" _________________ We make the finest wakeboard tower speaker, light bar and wake rack covers. |

You can't go wrong with a monster tower if you have the bucks.... However, I have a skyjac as it came with the boat. Easy to install, inexpensive and I noticed on there website that for 599.00 you also get a free rack. Not as cool looking as Monster but hasn't let me down yet and the black powder coated aluminum looks pretty nice on my white and black boat.
Best tower for the money no doubt. _________________ Rotary Girder |

My brother and i just installed a "Big Air Pylons" tower on my boat and it went really well. Quick installation, very sturdy, slick design. I suggest you all check it out. IMO it looks better than the monster tower. Only $995 as well.

Not all of us can be "beautiful people".
I'd go with Monster Tower! It's quiet, sturdy, easy to break down and they have really good customer service. |

| I have a Monster Tower on my boat. I've had it for about 4 years and it is still rock solid. There may be other towers out there that look cooler, (twice the price) but none as sturdy. The most important thing is the knowledgable customer service. I think they have without a doubt the best customer service of any company I have ever dealt with. go Monster Tower. Go to their website and check a decked out tower and tell me its ugly. Hey, if for no other reason buy the tower because of the Monster Girls calendar!!! |

wilsontdy,
If we all did have stock, we would be smart..
Alot of towers don't look that great but this thread was about a good quality tower for the best price and you WILL NOT find a btter one for the money. Monster towers are rock solid and are completely as advertised. If that is ugly to you then have fun with all the beautiful overpriced competition.
Bill, are you a publicly traded company???? Sign me up for some stock _________________ Fat men can fly too
