Hey guys please dont look at this and laugh its pretty bad, but i wanna get one down by beg of summertime. This is worst of three attempts but only one on tape, please let me know what im doin wrong, the wake was a lil small (due to lack of time to weight it down) and the rope was short, but all excuses aside i should still be able to land one under the same conditions so let me know everything i need to fix. Thanks a bunch
heres the clip

Your arms look like they are bent and too close to your body.
In the video, when you first come off the wake and extend your arms, the rope looks very slack. It does not seem to tighten up until you are a couple of feet from the water on the way down.
If you kept the rope tight all the way through the trick, you could pull your feet back under you more quickly. |

| HOLLOMAN101, looks like it's gonna get a lil bit chillier this week. about your raley, i'd say put your board on and make another video, you never know...you might surprise yourself and actually land it. looks like your pretty close as it is. |

line tension is the key to this trick. not just creating it on the approach, but also holding it past the wake and keep the rope tight the whole time, this will allow you to return to planet earth in one piece. _________________ Mark Kenney, 1983-2002

Alright...so heres the deal on stompin your first raley bro. Im not gonna tell you what you did wrong on your vid but tell you what you need to do right. First of...cut outside the wake as far as you can and wait for the boat to start pullin you in. then begin a SLOW progressive edge. Your edging should grow VERY aggressive to the point where your ass is almost touching the water. Keep in mind that in order to NOT STARGAZE you must have an equal edge, this means pushing on the water 50-50 with each foot...im goofy also, when i throw my raleys i concentrate mostly on putting more weight on my front (right foot) so i wont stargaze. Keep edging aggressively all the way THROUGH the wake, and if you edged correctly the rest is easy. IF you edged correctly the wake will throw your board behind you and the boat will pull you into 'raley position' (at this point, relax) Keep your arms extended at all times and shoulders square and LOOK AT THE BOAT when in the air. When you begin to descend, you will feel a massive pull on the line, at that point simply pull on the handle and bring your knees in (this part is almost done instinctively, you really dont even have to worry about it) then absorb the landing and ride away. Hope this helps bro....and keep on ridin. _________________ Pain is weakness leaving the body! |

| the raley on the wakeskate is so you can practice your position in the air without landing or in my case falling with a board on your feet, it makes the crashes a lil more forgiving. In other words the skate is supposed to fly off of you feet. |

lofosho_97, haha, like HOLLOMAN said, you cant raley on a wakeskate. BUT, we find ourselves doing things that they said COULDNT be done years ago. Who knows, maybe someday someone will be able to grab the board right before it goes flying off to keep it on their feet. Damn, thatd be sick. But right now....its impossible haha. _________________ "I just want something more than to come home in my cool looking SUV, sit in my king sized leather recliner and watch reality television on my widescreen plasma TV...How easy it is to care for someone when you dont have anything else..." |

Thomas P. has it,
You need to hole the hard edge all the way through _________________ "The best we can hope for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed."

But remember try not to bend your arms too much while you pull the handle toward your knees. |

Raley simplified...
1) Take a hard progressive edge into the wake with weight evenly distributed (loading the line)
2) Wait for the pop and drive it through your legs while making a fast transition on your edge at the top of the wake (like scooping)
3) LOOK STRAIGHT AHEAD PAST THE BOAT or you will stargaze (been there and it hurts...)
4) Land
If you load the line properly you will feel a tug when you are about over the second wake. When you feel this pull the handle down and bring your legs in. |

| It looks like you are not edging hard through the wake. |
