13 miles south of jackson minnesota the northern most lake is located by the border its spirit lake the largest lake in iowa and south of that is east lake okoboji wich is the third largest lake in iowa and west of east lake is west lake which is the second largest in iowa and is the blue water it is also spring fed so it is clear. The lakes are a hotspot for teenages it has 2 amusment parks and alot of rich people have cabins on it if you shall call a 3 million dollar house a cabin. but the depth of west is 135 feet at deepest. if you go there in the high of summer you will see many mercedes, hummers, sometimes landborginis. on the forth of july i saw a couple of hummer h1 a 150,000 truck. It has a couple of marinas but theres 2 main ones Oak Hill, and Parks Marina. in the summer parks has a bar on the lakeside called the barefoot bar it has palm trees tiki huts and the atmosphere of hawaii. alot of people hate butch cause he sells boats that are 2 big for the lake like 50 + feet yatchs that cant fit between east and west lake so he bought a marina on west called okoboji boats and made it into a tiki bar too. its a really cool place heres some websites. by the way parks sells hyperlite. http://iowagreatlakestowncenter.com/Town.html
www.okobojihomes.com
That should pretty much sum it up

The thing I liked most about this last post was the random "by the way parks sells hyperlite" comment. Looks like a pretty sweet place, a little $$$ for me but if you've got it, spend it.

same here im just saying its a popular spot for rich people from desmoins and omaha and sioux falls. Harrison Ford might buy a house on the lake. People who ask why ill tell you the story im not sure why i thjink it was a storm harrisons jet had to land in spirit lake or spencer and he liked the area so he has come back a couple of times and the rumor is hes gonna buy a house on the lake that i think kemna asa owned it s gigantic. Is anyone here even from the sioux falls area around here they have to have lakes north of there cause theres a place that sells boats and they have them in the mall too.

its a pretty sick lake. not very good to ride on because the lack of wind cover and hidden areas. but I m not from their so I dont know all the ins and outs. pretty fun just pulling up to all the bars on the lake and gettin blitzed but for me Id rather ride than drink any day including 4th of july. if you want a crazier more party lake choose coralville lake in iowa city has a good cove and a 2 good beaches to party at plus you can venture up river to ride.

all2matt, yeah you said it right, if you want to go for the "view" it's a great lake. If you want to ride stay away. The threads on this forum that have talked about stupid boaters could have all happened on this lake. It is filled with people who really don't have much experience driving a boat cruising around, while drinking, all day long. There are so many little lakes in the area that most people don't know of that are have much less traffic.
