anybody have a 2003 moomba outback?

we've got a 2003 moomba outback, not ls, not lsv, just the plain old outback with a rad-a-cage tower.

so im wanting what everyone else wants, air nautique-esque wake out of this. we've tried a 1200 lb seat in back with a 680 lb sac in the open bow, but that didnt work so hot, usually we just run a 680 lb in back and load up with people

any suggestions?

i know that 60/40 weight distribution is what i need, so 1200 back and 800 front would be optimal for this, we had nearly 700 in front, so the percentage is pretty close, but the wake still kinda sucked.

buying a new boat is no option

please help

It sounds like you have just about put the most weight you can in the boat. You might want to try different configurations. Maybe two side sacks (500 lbs each), a rear sack (600 lbs) and a front sack(400 lbs), plus a few people in the boat. If that doesn't do it you'll just have to be content with what you have or consider stepping up to a more wake specific boat in the future.

one more thing, you being a dealer and all i bet you could answer it good.

i notice on the LS and LSV's there is the wake plate
is this available for a standard outback as an add on?
and is it worth it?

The wakeplate is an option for the Outback that they started offering on that boat in 2005 I believe. It was an option on all of the other boats well before then. To me, the wakeplate doesn't do a whole lot to the Outback's wake. Whenever I order an Outback for dealer stock, I never order them witht a hyrdaulic wakeplate. To me, the little change of shape you get isn't justified with the price (this is only for the Outback, not the LS, LSV, or XLV).

Now your Outback should have come with a cavitation plate. It is a little black tab that sticks off the bottom of your transom where a wakeplate would go. I have seen people remove this and epoxy over the holes before. This allowed a little better wakeboard wake but gave up a little on handling and performance. I am by no means telling you to do this, just saying that I have seen it done.

So to answer your question, no I don't think a wakeplate would be worth the add-on on your Outback for wakeboarding.

i just traded in my 05 outback. i thought the wake was more than enough, i had a friend ride behind it that has an x2 and he was having no issues throwing huge raileys and inverts, for weighting i ran a 540 and a 350 sac in the back and a 350 sac in the bow and like 5-6 people on board. the wake was more than enough for me.

i just got a brand new 05 XLV, the outback was great for what it is, but i wanted something a little bigger and a little flashier Smile

I had a Mobius (outback hull) as my first boat. I took out the back seat and put in a fat seat, and put a fat sack in the walk through. It was a good enough wake to take me from just getting up to learning spins and inverts.

We use a 750lb fat sack along with a 350lb sack right in front of it in the back of the boat. We usually have 6-8 people on the boat. Usually have two people up front, two people on the back and the rest arrange as needed. We've had a ton of compliments on the size of wake our 05 outback produces.
