I had my isolator from Hellroaring Technologies installed this past week. I used a voltmeter tonight to test the setup and this is what I found:

With key out of ignition and no accessories on:
- cranking battery @ 12.8 volts
- deep cell battery @ 12.8 volts

With key out of ignition and lights, etc. on:
- cranking battery @ 12.2 volts
- deep cell battery @ 12.8 volts

With key turned to 'accessory' and lights, etc. on:
- cranking battery @ 12.4 volts
- deep cell battery @ 12.6 volts

Is this setup acceptable? (My intention was to mitigate the chance of being stranded on the lake with a dead battery)

P.S. If I leave something on with the keys out and the cranking battery is drained, wll the deep cell transfer a charge or will I need jumper cables?

Kind of impossible to tell without more information. Mike at Hellroaring will do whatever he can to help, but you will have to be able to tell him how things are wired. The device should turn on (led on device) when boat is running or charge applied, and turn off when boat is not running.

Sounds wrong to me, but like Cyclonecj said more information would be good.

I would guess that with the key out of ignition and lights, etc. on the deep cell battery voltage should drop, not the cranking battery...

To be sure your could test it by running your stereo until it dies and then see which battery is dead...
