|
|
Yes, I searched. Either old posts or off topic.
My "new to me" 97 Sport Nautique needs some high tow love. I was going with a stripper pole with racks, but think the tower is the way to go (good move?)
I've seen some "universal" towers that look ok, for 800-1000 bones but they just dont have style.
In your educated opine, who has the sweetest "do it yourself - install" tower for about a grand or less? I want to mount it myself to save some change and know its right.

| Its getting tough (near impossible) to find towers under a grand anymore. The monster is $1195, but you can't beat their rep and product for the cost. I think the monster is probably the best bet for the sport nautique.....unless you ponied up for the FCT.

You could try to build it?
www.diytower.com
I did mine and got alot of help from that webpage, now mine is posted on there.
I did mine for like $250, others spent a little more, I think mine looked great for a DIY.

MonsterTower is setting the benchmark... NOt sure you can spend the cash any better way really..
Possibly something like the LoudLiquid tower (loudliquid.com) it has racks but is more like 1500 bucks...

| It is going to be a Monster Tower or a Joystick Universal, for that boat. Expect to spend under 1400 dollars. Do not get a "stripper pole" aka extended pylon if you can afford a tower.

Couldn't go wrong with this choice either... A solid tower with nice mounting hardware.

I don't know if Brian did this as a one time deal? But I got my tower for $1,650 at WakeAir. Now I know this is more than $1k. But when a Monster is going for $1195, why not add a little to the amount and get a custom tower to fit the lines of your boat! I am getting tired of the look of the Monster.

Right on. Thanks for the killer ideas. I'm picking up the boat today in fact, so this all will come down the pipe as things get done. Cool thing is, I'm getting to sell the old boat and put that money right into the Nautique. Unfortunately, the old boat is only worth about 2200.00 or so, thats why I wanted to keep the tower cost low as possible. I wanted to try and squeeze a new bimini and pump'n tunes in that budget. I know I'm going to come out of pocket cause 2 grand aint gunna cover that, but was hoping to eat as much of the old boat money as possible.
I'm going to keep a good picture record of the buildup and post up on the progress. Stay tuned...

I would LOVE to build my own. I have a good shop and dig metal fab and have access to a nice tube bender even. My problem is time. My real job keeps me too busy.

No way. Loud Liquid is just down the street from me where I work here in Rancho Cordova. Gunna head by and see if I can pick up the "local dood toss it in the back of the truck for cash" dealeo.

We had a local fishing boat tower builder make a tower for me it cost $1200. It folds down and looks good IMO you might want to go that route.

For my money, Monster was the way to go. No regrets so far, and I personally like the look on my boat.

Thaks a ton Brit Rider! I will for sure. I haven't been in the shop yet, but I pass right by almost every day going to and from work. Theres something cool about working with local doods too, face to face stuff.
Sick boat Bordordie. My 97 Sport looks just like that, cept the side colors are black and silver. NICE

boardordie, something isn't right about that picture...?? I can't figure it out. Great boat by the way, but the surroundings look unreal. Maybe I am just mental.

Loppy: Thanks! That's actually a 92 SNOB. I'm the third owner and the boat is still mint! I've actually re-arranged the speakers and added another board rack to the drive side but this is still my favorite shot of her.
Haugy: You should recognize the background. It was taken in your backyard! Norris Lake, TN in August on a houseboat trip 2 seasons ago. We had fog every morning so while I was waiting for it to burn off I had a buddy snap a few pics. I'm actually laying down on the other side of the motor cover and a bass boat just went by. It came out better then I would have ever anticipated.
