Hi,
I'm currently looking at buying either a Tige', Centurion, or a Moomba boat. I drove by the Tige' dealer and seen a 2002 22i wakeboard boat for sale. They were asking 35k, but would take 3% off the price and might sweeten it up a little more. I was looking into a Moomba Mobius LSV and was wondering what anyone else has to say about Tige' boats. I don't know much about them, but they seem like descent boats. My question is why do they not come with ballast systems and how good of wake does it through with its hull design with taps? I also looked at a 2003 Centurion Avalanche C4. This boat was the shizz, but it also had a price of 40,700.

All info is welcome.

Thanks

I haven't but those are the companies with the best boats for the money. I haven't really found much else in my price range of 25-35.

Some places you can get a new 2001 or 2002 Malibu Wakesetter VLX with some good options on them for $35k. Good deals are out there on better boats. You have to look for them good though.

If you go with a Tige go with a newer model. The older ones had wake issues. Moomba LSV is a great boat with a great wake. I would stay away from Centurion. Just do a search on the boards and you will find bad news about them.

bline163, I've been watching the boards for a while now and have said nothing but I have really gotten tired of everybody cutting down, defaceing and saying how bad Centurion boats are. I've mine for little over a yr and have no problems. There has only been one KID on here shooting off his mouth about how bad the service was and how the dealer was not helping, well sounds like he was not listening to the right peeps because he bought the boat used and was trying to get work done for free. He shot his mouth off for almost a yr, well if I was having that much problems with something I would have sold it. Thats just my $.02 but I have not said anything until now but not everyone can afford 50-60 for a boat (having mommy and daddy buy it for them). But buying something new for 30-35 with an warranty and it just being new makes thing go alot easy with an used boat you never know how they have been treated, oh they can claim we did this and we did that but you never know!!!! Anyway stepping down off the box and I will get thashed on this sight but WTFE!!!!!!

I have a Centurion avalanche. Bought it new last year. Easily the nicest wakeboat on the water in my neck of the woods. Not just my opinion either, everyone comes up and tells me so. Fit, finish, storage area, standard equipment, ballast, I'll stack it up against any boat out there. Gel coat graphics, snap out carpet, teak swim platform, cool swoop tower. I could go on, but I'm gonna get slammed anyway. If your budget is 30-35. Buy what you like. There are few lemons out there these days. You boys with the SANs, when you run out of room for the honeys, I'll take 'em along with me. I've got the space you wish you had. Mr. Green

We love our moomba, just got it at the end of last season, but we were sold on the features you get for the money. Best bang for your buck in the market, couple that with the service of skiers choice...

It was our friends with a supra launch that sold us on skiers choice. They have had 2 supras over the last 10 years and simply loved them both.

I can't speak about the Tige or the Centurion, but you will not me disappointed if you decide on a moomba.

Ran,

What type of weight config do you run in yours. I 'm just curious cause I picked up a new centurion. We test drove it with the three tanks and 350 in the nose and the wake plate at different levels, andit that was pretty good for us upgrading from from an 88 2001 nauty. Just don't see many peops on the board with em. So when I do I usually ask. We havn't had much time to play yet cause the weather SUCKS Evil or Very Mad

As to Centurion Boats. I think they are built solid, cut throgh chop like no other, and the interior is comfy as hell. We were looking at boats in the same price range of 30 -35k. We test drove all the big ones just to see if they were worth all the extra dough. To me this boat had just as much to offer as any of the top 3. The wake shapes were the main differences. The centurion seemed to have a little wider one at 75 feet than most. I liked that. The ramp was right in between a bu and a nauty. Nott as vert as the nauty but not as rampy as the bu. For us it was a no brainer. The other thing we liked best is that the cockpit walls seemed kinda high it gave you a safe (dry) feeling for those rogh days on our lake. For sure check out the dealers reputation for customer service. TO me this will make or break a boat's reputation more than the boat itself.

Don't get me wrong If I could get any boat it would be a SATE it's like the mecredes of boats, but most of the company's put out a solid boat nowadays IMO. Wake shape is really what it boils down to. I'd also love to own the new Mercedes G truck as well, but My Chevy Avalanche works just fine.

Bline
I bought an 2002 Centurion Hurricane in November it was a left over out the door for 30k brand new. Mid ship ballast, tower, bimini, boat cover, tandom trailer. I love the storage in this boat I also like the the cross over wake for skiers. Just getting started in adding more automatic ballast with 2 side sacs under the bow seats (not yet completed) This boat seems to like weight up front. Wake is great for my level and I don't think I will out grow this boats capability. I shopped around before buying this boat and could not get a moomba V-drive optioned for close to this price, maybe someone has? Let alone even one of the "big 3" used for close to this. The Avalanche is a little bigger wider beam and a little longer little more$$ more hardcore wakeboat. Also look at the new Cyclone C4 similliar size to the Hurricane different hull. This is my second Centurion and I am a happy customer!! So go ahead and let the flaming begin..

If you are looking at bang for buck I would go with a Supra Launch SSV. I thought tige prices are on up there?

Have a look at a Sanger V-210 as well, they ship out new around 35K and have one of the best wakes around.

Nice to see other happy Centurion owners out there. Compare the ICS construction to any others out there, SAN included. Solid, no rattles, cuts through the chop like butta. Easy to clean the interior with the snap out carpet. All finished surfaces in the storage areas. As for cleaning, I can climb into the storage area behind the observer seat and crawl to the front cushion openings with the shop vac. In the Centurion the storage deck is open from the bow to the stern on the port side. Unbelievable room for anything you want to carry. Compare the big boys vs Centurion, Mooba, MB, Sanger, Tige. The money difference is name only. Not features. Buy what your budget allows. You'll get a good boat. Cool

Hey:
I'd say I'm a Tige man, but I haven't actually gotten mine on the water yet, so I can't say for sure. The best thing to do I believe is to take the three boats out for a text drive, and ride behind them if you can. Everyone on these boards has their own opinions and experiences. The three boat lines that you mentioned all have good reputations in the industry, and I'm sure you'd be happy with either. But get behind the wheel, and in the water and see for yourself. That's the best bet.

Very Happy I bought a 2001 X-Star with 40 hours on it in 1/2003 for $36K. The boat is sweet and I feel I got a great deal on it. If you buy a boat that's a year or two old, you let the original purchaser take the hit on the immediate depreciation in value that occurs when you drive off the lot.

I had the boat checked by the dealer (dyno and water test) and they said "it wasn't even broken in yet..." I also paid $450 to MC to transfer the factory warranty on the drive train which gives me some piece of mind.

Consider all options!!!

Bline, if you have a chance to buy a NEW Tige 22i for less than 35k, BUY IT!. I have a 21i and we love it. The Moomba's are great boats, but in this case there is really no comparison. The Tige you are looking at is over 22 feet, and has a 102 inch beam. Physically, and from a storage perspective the Tige is HUGE compared to the Moomba. Moomba's make excellent wakes, no question, but you have to fill them with fat sacks, further comprimising space. Due to Tige's construction, they weigh considerably more than a comperable sized boat, this helps with the wake without taking up any space. This is also why they are so wide, and solid in the water. The TAPS is designed to adjust the wake for different riders at the touch of a button. The 22i with TAPS is one of the best rough water boats out there (no matter how hard you try, you will find yourself in rough water). The fit and finish on the TIGE, especially the interior, is one of the best in the business (and you usually pay for it). It sound like you are in the same position I was in a few months ago, looking for the most boat I could get for the money. If you are a recreational rider looking for a good wake and a great boat, I would suggest getting the Tige. If you are a pro rider looking for the ultimate wake, I would suggest getting something in a V-drive. Anyhow, just my opinion.

Another thing about the tige' is the 03 have an option for a ballast. You can get it from the dealer. They also use a new hull, same as the riders edition from the 02. I have not ridden in the 03 yet, but I have ridden in an 02 Riders and various others. I usually ride behind a 99' 22I and can't complain about it. I would check around and ask about service, that could make a big difference. Sometimes dealing with the service department can ruin your experience with a company no matter how much you like your boat.

A 2002 22i is going to be a sweet ride. That boat has the new hull everyone loves. It's going to handle really well and with some weight the wake will be sweet.

I looked at boats for about three months. I bought a Centurion Hurricane (pic on profile) Bran spanking new for 30k! Why buy a used boat? They scare me. Why are they selling a one or two year old boat for? Motor run dry? Electrical problems? Just not reliable? Get a new boat cuz you never can tell how a used boat was treated. As for Centurion, Our dealer has the nicest people you will ever meet. I think Centurion will be one of the top 5 boats in the next few years if not now.

Millertyme,
You're the man. I agree with you on your Centurion assessment. I bought an Avalanche last year. Sweeeet. This site is loaded with smug Nautique owners. Be sure to not let them bash our kick a$$ Razz boats!

i recently demoed a tige 20v, mobius lsv, and a centurion avalanche C4. to me the C4 wasnt much of a wakeboarding boat....the conditions wernt the best but i still wasnt impressed. the tige had an impressive wake for a boat without ballast but the tower seemed shakey and the wake was inconsistent.....the lsv was a badass boat it had a smooth transition from the flats to the wake and had more pop than than i thought i would get.....i know diff.people like diff thing but this is what i noticed bout the three companies.................

Centurion is the only boat company out there that will not add an additional 10k to 20k just for the name. Last week I had a semi pro boarding behind my boat. With 5 people and factory ballast system. He said the wake was one of the best he had riden behind. He was pulling Raleys about 15 feet out of the water!!!! Anyway he keeps calling me to go back out. Now if it would JUST QUIT SNOWING!!!!! DAMM IT!!!

So you think Moomba adds 10 - 20 K for the name??? So you think a new Outback is only worth 5-15K ???

Go with the LSV

I have a Tige' 2002 22i Riders and it puts out a pretty nice wake with good pop. I got a great price but need to add some ballast. Anyone with a sweet set up let me know about it.

I agree with graphic. Test all of the boats that you can. I bought a brand new Tige 22ir and paid 35K nicely equipted. I have added a few things but for me, it is the best boat out there. It has tons of room and people arn;t all sitting next to or on top of each other like in the wrap around seating on some boats. If your like us and regularly have 8 or more people on your boat, seriously consider the 22ir. When I donlt have it loaded with people, I run about 1200 lbs of ballast. 2 x 350's in the rear and a 500 up fornt and the wake is hip high and clean. I have friends with just about every other type of boat you can think of and they all will provide a great ride when weighted properly. go out and test them all and ride behind them all. If the dealer won;t let you, you probably don't want to do business with that dealer anyway. <end rant>

Blur,

I'm with you. I bought a new 02' 20V last year and I love it. It has been a great boat and is built as solid as a tank. If people would look at the new tige's more objectively they would realize that there are other boats out there that equal the Nautiques and Mastercrafts. I'll put my 20V up beside any Nautique or Mastercraft.
I'm not saying the tige is superior, but they have made some big gains in quality and design in the past two years. Compare them for yourself, and I think you will agree.
