Amp to go with new Defcon IV's??

I just got new Defcon IV's and will be installing them slowly over the winter what is a really good amp that have alot of versatility and a good value. I don't want to spend a ton but want the full potential from the Defcons. And the same question for running my Sub also...

I've used 2 of theses for the past 1.5 years to power my NVS 1010's....no complaints so far, and cheap. They retial for around $360-380 at major electronic stores.

You said you used two of these..... One for each side? Do they need that much power?

I had one of them in an old boat of mine and one was not enough, instead of buying one amp capable of powering them ($500+) I sprung for the cheaper alt. $130 for another amp. My gains are set a little over half way. Output voltage on my RCA’s is only 2volts. The NVS can handle around 500 watts RMS per pod (I think) they are probably seeing around that, according to the amp. The only time one of the amps started cutting out was a Houston, Texas July (100+ degrees, with close to 100% humidity) day of listening for approx 6 hours at high volume. Turned it off for approx 5 min and was back to normal the rest of the day.

So you would say that is the best way to go for value in amps without spending a fortune? Is there any others you would look at or compare?

I also have two Jl 500/1's in my boat, they are great amps as well, and stay relatively cool pushing my subs. With that said you really don't need an amp with a high SQ. I've heard some slammin systems with componetnts from some lower end manufacturers. If I were to do it again.....I'd keep most of the speaekrs but run all audiobahn amps. Just my opinion.

What is the bare minimum that the Defcons need. I know both the NVS and the Defcons are power hungry. What could I get away with? The reason I ask is I was thinking of going with the 5 channel Kicker that has a class D sub section.

I'm pretty sure the NVS are 500 watts RMS per pod 1000 RMS total and the deafcon IV's are 200 watts RMS per side 400 watts total. Both I think, show a 4 ohm load per side ( i know the NVS are). what are the specs on the 5 channle? I find those large 5 channel amps are usually not enough power, especially on the sub. REmeber those amps are built for car applications.....you don't need a ton of wattage to make spekaers sound good in side of a car. You''ll moree than liekly always need more power in a boat.

I ended up purchasing the Kicker 850.4 with 215 watts RMS a channel (4 channels) at a two ohm load. It also allows you to bridge two of the channels for sub use with a remote control for adjusting the sub. Does anyone have this setup and know if it works well for a sub?

i have the deafcon IV's powered by a kicker kx700.5 amp. it works great. i had the kx800.4 before but it Bubb Rubb up the speakers somehow (bad wiring) but the amp i have now is perfect.

Wow the Kicker 700.5 had enough power to push them? I think it said it only had like 75watts RMS per channel. Everyone I spoke with said that would not be enough power to make them sound right. Makes me feel better about my choice!
