| how much do fat sacs help the wake of the boar? Also if my boat can hold 1315 lbs total and their is 545 on already. That leaves 770 lbs would 580 lbs be too much for the weight of the fat sacs |

What type of boat do you have? Length, engine size, make, model...etc _________________ Be an organ donor! My father is alive today because of kind souls that donate life... |

WHAT????, not exactly... If he adds way to much weight, the engine will stress big time, and a year or two down the road, depending upon how many hours you have on your boat, and how well you broke it in, it will start to malfunction. The length of the boat isnt too important, but the engine size, and the type of boat is. Judging by the amount of weight your boat can hold, I am going to guess you have atlease a 6 stroke engine, and if this is the case, 565 lbs will do just fine.
http://forums.wakeboarder.com/search.php This should answer any questions you have about properly weighting the boat, and what type of sacs to purchase. _________________

Blake, what is a 6 stroke engine? I assume you mean a 6 cylinder, and I would agree.
Dman 2091, sounds like you have an Inboard/Outboard, possibly with a 4.3L?
If so, that amount of weight would be probably best suited in the bow walkway....but I am just speculating here on the type of boat.. _________________ Be an organ donor! My father is alive today because of kind souls that donate life... |

Dman 2091, yeah we really need details on the boat, length, engine size, etc.
Let's say it's an inboard, well these guys have covered it pretty well. You don't want to stress your boat too much. If you listen to WHAT????, you are just asking for trouble. I have seen boats get destroyed like that. |

What model? There are quite a few different models out on that particular boat itself.
However, this is what I have found:
HULL TYPE FIBERGLASS/COMPOSITE
CRUISING SPEED 33
ENGINE TYPE SINGLE I/O
MAX SPEED 46
FUEL GAS
FUEL (GALLONS) 38
BUILDER Stingray
LOA 19
BEAM 7'6
DRAFT 30
ENGINE MODEL Volvo 4.3 GL V6
HORSEPOWER 190
If all of this information is in fact true about your model, you have a 4.3 which is a 6 cylinder engine. With that said, you could handle around 700 to 800 lbs fairly easy in ballast, plus the weight of the passengers. The only thing you should really do at this point, is distribute the weight around pretty evenly (As in 60% front and 40% rear) to relieve a little pain of the engine. It wont be too much relief, but trust me, it will make a difference. Just start off with a tube sac, which weights around 360 I want to say, and a pair of side sacs that weigh 250 each. This way, you can move it around fairly easy.
Vampyre, yes, 6 stroke. DUHHHH!!! It was late! I was more than likely thinking about stoking something 6 times. _________________

Blake, Yeah, I figured...
Dman 2091, I have a very similar boat, same engine and size.
What I found works well for me is, a 600 lb fat sac in the bow walkway, about 350 lbs in the ski locker (4 waterbed tubes from ebay), and I have 2 50 lb sandbags with nice handles, that I distribute side to side, as necessary, at the back. I usually ride with 3 others in the boat, weights from 150 lbs to 220 lbs.
Be sure to trim the outdrive up to about 1/4 to 1/2, to the point of where the bow bounces, then lower it a tick. _________________ Be an organ donor! My father is alive today because of kind souls that donate life... |
