| im trying to learn switch... i can do a surface 360 and 180's behind the boat but but thats about it i cant really ride... i can cut out hs then 180 to hs switch but i just cant get any speed when i cut back in and i feel like i cant get a good cut, its like i have a hard time digging in my edge in... could changing my stance help... i have my front one angled more, however i have them both angeled out... would putting my back foot at more of an angle help when riding switch, im just hesitant to change my set up since i am just now getting good air on my hs w2w... thanks also how do indo boards help? it seems when you wakeboard all your weight transfer is heel to toe and on those boards its from one leg to another... |

finless05, definetely equal out your stance. You want it perfectly symmetrical. Trust me itll help a TON in the long run. As for riding switch you just gotta do it! Practice, practice, practice.
Indo boards dont directly help for wakeboarding...it just greatly improves your balance and you need balance for wakeboarding. |

| Anyone else find it strange that while hardly no one rides with snowboards symmetric (front foot is usually ducked quite a bit, with a straight back foot), most wakeboards have a symmetric slightly ducked stance? |

not true. this is the recommended setup but it is not the case for all riders. i would start here however and adjust to where it is most comfortable. but you are right in saying you dont want the typical beginner stance with the squared up back foot when ou start riding switch.
stevehollx, whole different animal. cutting on a snowboard and wakeboard is completely different. on a wakeboard you have your weight more centered on a snowboard you have it forward. its like asking why do people on a skateboard ride with their feet setup all the way to the back. |

the reason you ride symmetrical wakeboarding and not snowboarding so much is because of the pull from the rope.... Let go of the handle on a wakeboard while going really fast and your natural tendency is to turn in front of you. _________________ "..she reads at a sophimore level!" |

if you ride park in snowboarding you want your stance to be super ducked and symetrical. i ride my wakeboard the same way. |

yeah, im the same on a snowboard to. Finless 05 having your stance the same will help your riding, but dont have it to duck. The way i set mine up was to stand with your feet straight and to bend your knees, the direction your knees point is the angle you should have your stance, thats how i did mine and its working for me, also try having your stance a bit wider as this will make you a bit more stable. _________________ "Give a man a fire and he will be warm for an hour, set a man on fire and he will be warm for ever" |

it's however you feel comfortable on the board. When I first started riding, my friend's board was setup with different degrees of duck on each foot...not knowing any better, I set mine up that way too and was having problems getting everything alligned while riding switch. When I finally put the bindings at equal ducking it all just fell together. _________________ Washington DC Wakeboard Crew - http://www.dcwake.com |

I heard this tip somewhere: Stand on the ground with your feet shoulder width apart. Then jump straight ahead a few feet & land naturally. Take a look at the position of your feet when you land. That's how you should set up your bindings to be the most comfortable.
