My dad has a 31 foot boat at a marina that I go wakeboarding on. Only problem is that it's REALLY choppy, so I think this is holding me back from learning as much as I can about the sport.

So I was wondering... at what time would be the best for wakeboarding out near the gulf? Does it change during different seasons? What should I look for in order to find a good spot that's flat ?(near a bridge, sandbar, etc.) Thanks for helping me out =)

K-wood Kid, probably the gulf of mexico...

try and find a barrier island or something to block most of the waves. i'm not quite sure about when the gulf is smoother but i know that sometimes it would get almost glassy early in the morning.

yeah, here in sarasota there is a spoil island in the intercoastal and everyone one wakeboards/tubes/water sports around it... it is normally choopy on one side of it...

but come on, its isnt the lake of mexico for nothing... try staying closer to shore like just past the swimmers bouys and like Craig-R said, early in the morning

also, the passes are normally 23434% times choppier than regular shore so stay away from them
