as above,

i find it very easy to go w2w... i don't even need to go all out in the flats before edging in for a w2w... but i'm having lots of problems getting out into the flats.... no matter how far out i go, somehow it seems the most that i can clear is w2w.

what is the usual problem if this happens ? am i not building enough progressive edge for the jump?

there was just once that i just remember edging so hard that i had a really high hangtime and i landed in the flats but i lost the handle... is it really the prog edge doing the trick?

appreciate any replies... thanks !

Cut in at a harder angle and hold your edge all the way through the wake.

2 things that you can add.... assuming you are all progressive-edged out.

1. An agressive push off the top of the wake. Stand tall quickly at the top of the wake.... This takes a lot of timing, but can lead to a huge jump.

2. Start with a very agressive cut while very far from the wake, flatten off, then about 5-10 ft from the wake do your normal progressive edge from there... the extra speed will carry you farther.

howabouttheiris, the second thing you mentioned should not be given any attempt at the topic posters level. That creats a ton of rebound in the line, and in most cases when done correctly, will pull you head first just from the added tension in the line. Your first point was the most valid. Again, I wouldnt try the second one until I had the distance taken care of. It will give you some nasty pop though!

Increase your approach angle to the wake (closer to 90) and load the line harder all the way up through the wake....

Think Raley cut while keeping the handle low off the top of the wake.

To reach the flats you need lateral speed to get that you LOAD THE LINE till you can't load it anymore.

Most people have the exact opposite problem, they have no progressive edge so they shoot low and out far.
Be happy you have POP. landing in the flats will come easy with a good foundation.

I had trouble going out into the flats before we had a tower. Do you have a tower?

If not, yeah... a nice Progressive edge with a little aggression, hit with straight legs, and get ready to stick the landing.
