How long does the rope need to be when wakeboarding and what kind of rope is best to use?

zero stretch rope ( something with Spectra in it ) and the length depends on where the wake is clean. Meaning, no white cap at the top of the wake , to ride through.

I like a couple from Straight Line.

If you want something that is non-stretch and still wraps up nicely I'd maybe try:
