Yeah man, I used to be in a jazz band grooving on my trumpet. that said, I like a lot of primarily brass jazz, the likes of Dizzy and Miles, Al grey, and so on. Saxaphonists are nice to, and a few big bands are pretty good, but I prefer soloists.

I play sax in a band, working on piano. Take Five and Cantaloupe Island are a couple of my favorites. Any latin songs I like too.

Jazz is great. Check out some songs by Bob James. Awesome stuff! I also like old jazz, such as Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald. I used to play the trumpet and learned to play Chuck Mangione's song, "Feel So Good".

Chales, good call on Take Five! Also, speakin' of latin songs, do you listen to Gypsy Kings? Not sure if they're classified as jazz, but they're awesome!

I used to play Trumpet in a Jazz band. No more though. Sacramento has a great Jazz festival every year. Old Town Sacramento is just packed with bands from all over the world. You have to appreciate Jazz and blues. It's just good music.

If you like Take Five, check out Cantaloupe Island. Its Herbie Hancock- one of his better known songs. Its just got same easy swing beat with a repeating piano/bass part. That's what I like in jazz, all you need then is a good soloist.

Also why I like latin.

I used to play the sax in a jazz band at school. I didn't really care much for the music the conductor was picking out for us, and I kind of got bored with the sax, so I quit.

Ryan, good choice on the Greyboy Allstars, they're tight. I got to see Karl Denson play with the bassist from the Flecktones a couple months ago, they were all KILLING IT.

Rick, I know as a fellow bass player & Flecktone listener you can appreciate the impossible style of Victor Wooten.

If you want a great Jazz festival the place to be is Idaho. The Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival is held there every year in Moscow Idaho, it is amazing.
