So, I used to be very consistent with my R2R, but I haven't landed one since July. My wipeouts on them are very consistent though, you can see in this short video what they look like. There are 5 attempts here on the video, the first 2 are consistent with each other, and the last 3 are consistent with each other. It's these last 3 wipeouts that seem to be what's happening on almost every attempt, what the hell do I need to do to get this trick back? Help!
In order to entice you to watch, I put a scene from one of my favorite Seinfeld episodes on the audio, enjoy.

In the first two, everything was good, but you need to land on edge more. in the last ones, it seems you tried to land on edge so much, that your board wasnt fully rotated. your approach looked fine, obviously your not having trouble with the pop. I would say get more shore-oriented on landings. i didnt think it would work either, but focusing your head on the shoreline will help you completely rotate (second prob fixed) and still land on edge to prevent sliding out (first problem as well). really feel for what its like to land a big h/s 180 in the flats and carry that landing-on-edge feeling to the r2r and you shouldnt lose it anymore. _________________ Mark Kenney, 1983-2002

It almost looks like you aren't finishing the 180. Try putting the handle in your front pocket. Almost to your butt. _________________ www.soswakeboard.com

Just another comment - it looks like you are trying to push the board down to revert. Stand taller off the wake, take it slower and really let your body rotate through the 180. You should be getting heaps more height off that wake, so wait a little longer off the wake. I know that sounds hard, but make a concious effort and you'll be right! Good luck and post some footage when you start landing that badboy again |

hey craigy....
YOu are doing exactly what i used to do....
I used to come in from that distance everytime i went for a backroll or a r2r. Then someone told me that if i could build the same edge from a shorter distance i would go higher and not as long. it felt foreign!
the prob with coming from further out (i found) was that i would come off edge a little sooner than i should and not build the edge all the way through the trough and up the wake.
You have a strong edge and i think that you may be surprised coming from a little shorter distance. I think that you will find more "hangtime" giving you more time to spot landings and anticipate the toeside edge....or i hope so anyway!
Best of luck! _________________ benny |

On the first 2 it looks like you're not landing with enough pressure on your edge. That could be why you're sliding out. But I'm NOWHERE near landing a trick of that caliber so I might be wrong.

as above says your not finishing the 180. on alot of the footage your edge in doesnt look very progressive. anyway back to the point initate the spin a little more with your head and when you spot your landing you want to be looking more away and towards the shore. basically a little more to your left.
are your normal 180s heelside sketchy? |

take a shorter cut to the wake so you don't over-rotate like you do in the first clip. on the others you aren't completing your 180 because your handle is out in front of you instead of directly at your hip. just keep the handle closer to your lead hip and you'll land every attempt . |
