Not yet.....I have a few set out and the people are supposed to send me emails of them..... They basically will look just like on the web site but wont have the banana terminals and the huge bracket. It will be a smaller bracket so the can fits nice and snug to the tower. I will post them as soon as i get them....

I don't understand the purpose of the speakers firing forwards and backwards. Is it just to make the cans cheaper to produce because they are essentially just a tube with no cap?

Probably from the seller's point of view, but it's marketed to allow sound to the passengers up front and when beaching the boat (listen on the beach w/o turning speakers around)

What is the domed cap also? Is that a second piece? If so, it looks quite seamless.
Those looks very nice, I am very interested.
How much in the material? Where to get?

here is a pic of the material i use it is normal polyester like our boats.
i don,t know what the cost are in the u.s.In the netherlands they charge about 130 euro for 1 meter enough to build 4 speakers.IF you live near a marina where they install bowthrusters you could ask for some leftover pipe. They cut of the ends and these parts are to short to use again, but long enough to build 1 or 2 speakers.
see pic.
i will start building the next set in a few weeks but i will try to explain how i build them.
first i cut of 25 cm of the pipe put it on a 1,5cm piece of plywood and draw a circle from the inside of the pipe upon the plywood. This will be the cap to mount the speaker later on.
When i have all the pieces cut i put a normal party balloon inside the pipe.
every pipe a balloon, fit them so that all look even.
next step glass a thin layer of fiberglass cloth on top of the balloon and 2cm down the pipe.let it dry.
next step take the balloons out of the pipes and glass some extra layers of fiberglass inside the cap.
cut out the plywood speaker mount and mount it inside the pipe.
this can be glassed or i like to prefer to use the polyster filler with fiberglass parts.
now finish the outside sanding and filler etc and paint it.
P.s no need to reinforce the mounting places as these pipes can carry your wieght...just use a big plate inside the can and mount it to the illusion.
voila cheap good looking speakers.
