|
|
| I am going to go out tommorow and i figure at the end of my run i will try a batwing or hs raley. The only reason i dont know if i should do it hs is cause i have a hard time satying squared up without turning but i am gonna go for it anyways. Which would u recommend andon hs raleys do i have to put most of my weight on my front foot and how hard do i have to cut cause i need plenty of time to bring it back down??? Also would it be better to try not and let it all the way out or let it go all the way out??? |

Hokay, HS raley broken down....
1. Start a long, progressive cut into the wake, with your hardest cut right at the bottom of the wake. Your butt should almost touch the water.
2. As you edge off the wake, relax your shoulders and allow the board to snap back. Keep your head up, focusing on the tower/pylon.
3. When you feel a strong pull through the rope, pull it down and try to snap it over your front knee.
It is best to do a whole raley right off the bat, not go little by little. Batwings are fricken hard. Do a raley first. |

| 50/50, just come in like your ass is on fire. flying. and then level out when you hit the wake, look at the boat, and close the window |

cuz you are only holding on to the handle with ONE HAND and you need to grab the board with the other!!!!
A HS Raley lets you keep two hands on the handle.... _________________ PEACE

| Enzoborder230, and, the motion of a Ts raley is quit akward, you have to force your way into the position. |

first off, a batwing isnt that hard. i leard batwing before h.s raley. infact i have never even tried a h.s raley. the "hardest part" is having a strong t/s edge thru the wake. this made the trick not just fall into place, but cave into place like an avalanche. if you cant hold a VERY leveraged t/s cut ALL THE WAY THRU AND BEYOND the wake, then i would say you're gonna have some painful trouble with a batwing. once you resist up the wake like mad, your board slings out behind you and like J-DOGG said hanging on with one hand can be tricky, but if you have 2 hands on the handle all the way thru the "hard edge" part of the trick, it will be managable to let go with one to get the grab. then if you keep the handle close and in tight, coming down is very natural and smooth.
just remember to hold your leveraged position (make the angle between your shoulder and the water as acute as possible) beyond the wake and keep the rope tight, you will surprise yourself at how easy and awesome this trick is. so go out and try a batwing..........after you've done enough practice cuts to really achieve that angle and edge hold. _________________ Mark Kenney, 1983-2002

WRONG!!! you do not have to force the board out behind you, If you edge properlly like a raley and have a proper progressive edge there will be enough line tension to throw it out behind you. The only thing is you have to let it out behind you but there is no forcing involved. you really have to drive that front hip into the sky riding up the wake tho. or you wont get the pop and you will lose your line tension riding up the wake. |
