So after working on my HS backroll for about a season, I decided to try the tantrum about a month ago to similar success. 2 weekends ago, I hadn't boarded in a while and decided "what the heck"? Threw...AND LANDED...my first tantrum!!! Way easier, in my mind, than a back roll (which still ends up in an explosion of water where I should be landing!)

Also stuck first switch HS 180 and first TS W2W. Needless to say it was a great session!

What a way to ramp down the season!

Way to go Mutt! Glad to see some sj peeps comin up.

I need a few more rides as my sessions have been quite the opposite. It seems like if I dont ride more than 2-3 days a week spread out its always "un-natural". The tricks sure dont flow like they did in the heat of the summer. I am debating whether to end the season on a good note (if I have a good set) or simply keep at it on this rollercoaster ride of sets I have been taking.

Now that I think about it, I will keep at regardless of how $hitty I ride.

Congrats dude. Maybe you can help me with mine! I'm having trouble with the "trip", and was wondering if squaring up to the wake is caused more by the quick bump on your toes right at the top, or if it's from letting your back hand go. If it's from your toes, when exactly do you drop your back hand?

You need to slow down and go back to the basics.....

Tantrum = one of the easiest inverts you will ever do!!!!

Wow, your progression was VERY similar to mine. I'm in my first season and have tried probably about 30 backrolls with no success. I landed my first tantrum a couple weeks ago and I felt it was way easier to land then a backroll. About the same time I also landed my first switch heel side 180 and toe-side wake to wake. I'd love to get a heel-side 360 and backroll before this season is over (I'm in Arizona, so I've got some time still). Good luck.

Yeah, my season is pretty over here in NorCal. Considering we also had all our stereo stuff swiped from our rig I don't see the season going any farther than now...

Thing I did was charge the beginning harder, really sank my hips down and pulled the rope to my hips. The only thing you need to do is stand tall and turn back away just a bit at the wake and remember you have to go UP, not BACK... Some of my failed attempts were cause I tried to throw it back and that got messed up. As I turn away from the wake is when I let the back hand off.
