I'm ready for shorter fins and was wondering if I'd be better off cutting down my spare set or buying shorter fins. I'm looking at going down to 1.5" or 1.6" from 2.2" I've seen Hyper lite cudas in 1.3" and 1.6" on Fleabay for round $10 a piece. The plastic detachable center fin in my CWB SOL looks like it would be easy to cut down with a band saw. If I cut them down do they need the bottom edge narrowed/shapened or is it ok to leave the bottom of the fin blunt? I'm trying surface 180's and butter slides on the wake and think the fins are holding me back, plus I think I will edge better with shorter fins as has been said in other posts.
I tried finless and it was too loose = Washout/faceplant.
TIA

well i just switched from 2.25 to 1.5 and noticed a difference in how it was easier to slide my rear foot around for surface spins but i didnt think it was any easier or harder to hold an edge.

i would just buy some fins, you could really mess up your board trying to shave down fins on your board

I would say buy new ones. I love my hyperlite p-wings, .9". It makes a difference though to ride finless. You should try to kinda ween yourself off fins. I only ride with my fins when I'm try new tricks. Otherwise I go without. It makes everything seem easier when you put them back in.

ive just started to ride fineless and i love the feel of the board without them on, there is soo much more freedom and menouverability (sp?) without, wheras if you have your fins on you get a more locked to the water feel.

even some people who rent pros dont use em, like me Laughing i dont ride with them because it teaches you to ride your edges, and not just twist the board on the water.
