if your still working on tantrums and to front variations inconsistatly, you probably shouldn't overload and try another.

i'm working on trhis trick too.
Idealy you should be able to do it as a reentry. just stand in the trough and try the ts back.

"Digging your nose" on backrolls really isn't bad. Because of your rotation, it really just stops your body it doesn't whip it.

i reccomend trying as many new tricks as you can, and the ones you are getting close on, work on them a little more than the ones you arent close on til you start landing them. trying new things will overall help you progress fast.

for the ts backroll you have to take a progressive edge all the way into the wake. this is an edge trick, not a trip flip. you dont huck it either. edge, pop off the top of the wake, then look straight back. imagine you could look straight down your spine. the landings are the tricky part on this. if you leave the wake too early you will come up short and under rotate. if you leave the wake at the top but start to initiate the flip portion of the trick too late you will come up short. it needs to be an equality of the two. pop off the top then initiate your rotation. keeping the handle close to your body will speed up the flip as well. on the landing try to push the handle behind you and look up to shore line and bend at the waist to help get you over your toes. good luck.
