Okay, I've been wakeboarding for about a month now (once a week), and I can jump wake to wake pretty consistantly. The only problem, about 1 out of every 7 or 8 jumps turns out like this:

Here is a video to show my approach and pop off the wake:
http://crspeedy.vilario.com/isuck.wmv

My brain told me not to post the picture and video here and try to figure out what I'm doing wrong on my own, but my nuts are refusing to get on the board again until I figure it out Laughing

Looking at the video, I think it must have something to do with my form as I hit the wake. I tend to flatten the board out instead of progressively edging all the way up. Is this what is causing me to flatten out in the air like this? I also notice that my knees are tending to soak up all of my pop instead of standing straight up. Could this have something to do with it too? When exactly should I straighten my legs? Going up the wake or right as I leave the wake? Any help is appreciated...thanks guys. I really love the sport, I just wish I didn't suck so bad at it Embarassed

I think that you have it.... mostly I would have the handle lower, and I think you are not popping off the wake uniformly, just the fact that your tail of the board is so low, looks like you are ramping up the wake. Maybe approach the wake with straighter legs, and jump off the top, like off a trampoline..
Ouch on the face and nuts Very Happy

You are throwing your weight forward and hitting the hs jump ts, with far to much weight on your back right leg/foot. That simple.

Do this: Start off 3' from the wake, edge in stand tall before the wake, and at the top of the wake, stick your chest out and dig your heels into the water and make it feel as though you are pushing up but not jumping. Are you familiar with squats when weight lifting? If so, you want to explode up but not jump. After you hit the wake 3 times from 3', do it 3 times from about 6', then 3 times from 12' and 3 from 24'. This is going to teach you timing, and riding your edge up and through the wake by digging your edge into the water. Also, you want your weight over the center of the board. So to wrap up, small cuts, dig your edge in at the top while exploding up, keep weight centered... It is truely that simple.

Too much weight on the back foot for sure.
You are actually allowing the board to slide out from under you. (almost like a reverse cartwheel)

The good news is... you are always going to have folks willing to board with you if you keep putting up 'highlight reel' crashes!

If you force youself more balanced (left - right) you will feel the wake as if it just got steeper. This will really help your air. How much to lean ahead can be difficult to judge, but trust me... if you lean too far ahead you will produce some more quality video.

Keep ridin'

I did that 4 or 5 weeks ago. only did it once and haven't done it since. I did it flattening out at the top and I had a lot of speed causing the board to slip out. Just commit to the jump each time.

keep an even weight over both feet, keep the handle low and pulled in to yor waste, take a nice progessive cut and straighten your legs at the peak of the wake and keep them firm. while in the air keep the rope in close to your body and bend your knees on the landing and cut out really hard into the flats

mx, your arms are straight out when your in the air, pull the rope in to your waist and you will be more balanced on the landings
