I tried a dock start for the first time yesterday, but i wasn't too succsesful. I got it on my first attempt but i jumped off pretty early and started to sink before i got going and the boat pulled me up. 2nd attempt i tried to jump later but the rope was yanked outa my hand and plopped into the water. 3rd attempt it musta looked like i was trying a raley off the dock, my brother said i looked hilarious (landed on my face). 4th attempt I jumped waaaaaay to early and completely sunk. So basically i got frustrated and did dock starts on a tube (Lotta fun got dragged 15 feet then flew into the water). Anyways how can i become more consistant /w my dock starts?

A good guide of when to jump is when the rope starts to come out of the water, if you have a tower, than wait just a split second after it comes out of the water, if you have no pylon or anything, then as soon as it comes out of the water, jump.
