But you have only been out once to wakeboard? And for the record, Green Day are not punk rock at all... Once you sell out, you lose all punk rock status in my opinion. (I would sell out though for the money; F the fans!)
My latest craze has been Bob Marley, Toadies, AFI, and Cher... Those bands rock my socks off! _________________

blake, punk rock is a genre.. a style.. actually having tons of fans and making tons of money does not make you a sell out.. and for the record, they are, and have always been alternative
I've been on a avenged sevenfold diet for the last few weeks.. nice and heavy.. good way to get the blood moving. _________________ http://www.myspace.com/galen96 |

Johny_WA, Are you mental? You must not be very old or astute to rock history. Punk Rock was about a "sticking it to the man" attitude in which groups played to voice their opinions on and or over political issues. The soul purpose, was to stay away from the 60's/70's rock movement conter cultures and bring their voices to the masses. You see, during this time, rock had since turned into ballads if you will. Yes, artisits still protested the war in Vietnam, but not through music so to speak. This was the basis of early punk rock. Moving on: Green Day, in their early years were very much a punk rock band or genre if you will. Although, they added their own flavor to the mix, and out came a new (new to the masses) sound with Dookie and Insomniac. Great albums they were, but still had roots to punk. Mosh pitting is something that is hand and hand with punk rock, although metal rock has since adapted this too. Even still, all arguements aside, the true meaning of music has since been lost in todays corporate driven world. But to say that a type of music is a "style", clearly shows that you arent connected with the roots of rock history. _________________

Johny_WA, Look, all we are trying to say is that you arent connected with the history of rock.. We are not claiming that you are a loser who goes against the flow to in turn be cool! _________________

sell out, change of style... i think the bottom line is that tastes change, and you didn't like the direction greenday was headed. Metallica is a perfect example. I grew up on the old garage days stuff, ride the lightning, master of puppets, etc. As soon as they started throwing out that new crap I lost interest in them. Did they sell out? No, they changed the look and sound. Some people like it, some don't. At the time I said I didn't like metallica, but that ain't true. I don't like what metallica became, I still love their old music tho.
As for my playlist, it's still a work in progress. I've everything from hip-hop - eminem, dr dre, 50c- rap - old skool stuff, sir mix alot, blackstreet,n2 deep, def squad - punk - bad religion, offspring, pennywise- techno - daft punk, dj bam bam, dj dan - and alot of other stuff. I just keep adding songs, keep listening, and keep editing the playlist. |

In my opinion you should STFU! I am pretty sure that this thread is more of a "whats playing now" deal... _________________
