Well try and get the spin once you're in the air. If you're trying a spin to your heelside direction, make sure to land on your toes. NEVER try to prespin before you jump, it will make you catch edge and will screw up the spin.

Try some surface 180's and then try some ollies and throw in some 180s.

As I said before, make sure to land edging on your toes. Don't try to jump the wake when you're learning these. Just use it to get the feel and go bigger. Good luck

Have you tried letting go with your front hand and giving a little tug on the line cause that should spin you.

freerider4, good point. That will help you get around and land in a more correct position in switch.

jp14, All that they have said and more is covered in this site's trick tips section (link from the sticky on the Newb bord) That's got great tips. I am also working on 180s, and I was wondering about the 180 from ollie - is it better to try it at a slow speed first? I run 24mph +- (behind an 18' Chaparral I/O) Should I be trying the 180 at 20-21 instead?

Azruial, Slow her down to 22ish, because you need good speed for popping the ollie) and work on a good ollie (bunny hop). Once you get that down, try letting go with your front hand and ollie. As soon as you leave the water, swing your back foot out to the front. Spinning heelside (if that isn't what you're doing) makes it easier to learn. Also, I'd recommend doing those in the middle of the wake to make it a little more comfortable rather than edging out unless it'a a glassy day.
Good luck

for any 180, you want to pull in with both hands once you are at the peak of your height to initiate your rotation. also looking in the direction you want to spin doesnt hurt either. for your landing keep the handle as close to your new front hip as possible and bend over at your waist some so you can get on your toe edge.

TIPS: if you keep slipping out on your heels, you arent getting over your toes enough. try putting the handle on your front butt cheek on your way down, or try rolling your hand downward so your knuckles are facing your back.
