|
|
I would like to go to The Wakeboard Camp and wonder what time(s) of year I should or should not go.
I ride a high elevation mountain lake where I always wear a full wetsuit so I am really not too concerned about water temp in the winter.
I am more interested in having calm water, no rain, and small group size (thinking that this will maximize riding time and individual instruction).
I appreciate any feedback people here might offer. _________________ Check out my wakeboarding links page. |

tedamenta,
I heard good things about that place this summer and am gonna try it out. I just booked my flight and reservations for down there this morning. I'll be there the week of 9/25 - 10/1. She said that that is the start of their slow season.
Should be nice for us "older" folks with all the kids back at school |

I am thinking the same thing, go when the kids are in school.
If you do not mind me asking, what did you pay?
Their site states “Prices vary for different times of the year. A weekly session is $1275 per week through mid-February 2005. The price after that is $1375 per week.”
It also states “We offer weekend packages in the off season from Sept through Feb.”
I do not know if the $1275 price is from Jan 1 through mid-February or from Sept through mid-February.
I have emailed the camp about this but my messages get bounced back and I have not heard back from filling out their online form. I think the site may have some programming problems. _________________ Check out my wakeboarding links page. |

Whenever you do go, I suggest it be a time when you have been riding regularly and are in good riding shape. I went once when I hadn't ridden yet in the spring, and I hardly improved, my body was too sore. I've gone other times early in May just before high school is out, yet late enough to have a chance to get my body in riding shape, I've really improved those times.
And to contact them, you may need to go old school and use the phone: 352-394-8899 |

| I paid the full weekly price, $1375 as I'll be there a full week and not just the weekend. |

Is tipping out the staff considered customary? _________________ Check out my wakeboarding links page. |

not customary, but if you really liked some of the coaches thoughout the week, like nice coaching funny and generally just a good time, then i see it fit. but if youdon't have the money. i'm sure they wouldn't notice.
it's not like a waitress where they make very little money and hte tips are a big portion |

I was there in May and had a great experience. The conditions were great and you got to ride more than your body can handle. As mentioned, make sure you are in good riding condition as your body will get beat up badly!
Also, make sure that you put in a special request for Kyle. Some of the other people there at the same time as us didn't really get to work with him at all. Instead, they got some kid that it was his first week there and he had never coached anyone before and didn't have near the instruction knowledge that Kyle did. It's a lot of money to spend, so make sure you book the best instructors. |
