I hold the handle w/ the backs of my hands facing upwards. The handle is then parallel to the water. My brother and my best friend hold the rope like a skier, in my opinion. One hand up the other down, while the handle is then at a 60 degree angle to the water.

How do you guys hold the handle? What is the correct way?

The correct way for wakeboarding is back of both hands up. Baseball grip is for skiers.

The baseball grip naturally puts the handle at chest height while in wakeboarding you want it closer to your waist. Having the handle parallel to the water also provides more lateral stability.

yea i have a lot of friends who hold it like skiers , but they grew up slolaming and thats just what came natural when they put a board on. I tell them that they'll never get anywhere with it , but it doesnt work hah. its kind of annoying.

Somehow I changed to baseball grip over the winter and when I cought myself doing it after about 3 weeks my riding improved. Even simple w2w were more easy because i was more balanced

I always hold it both hands down except after doing heelside front hand grabs, then I either land one handed or slalom style just until I ride away and then I change back. Its just easier to grab from that position.

Is it just me or does it look a little goofy when somebody does one hand up and one hand down?

baseball grip cant be nearly as bad as my buddy who only rides one handed. he has no control over the board, so he rides one handed so so his body isnt twisted. whatever. all the coaching in the world, but he insists its easier for him.
