On a roll the board rolls edge over edge
On a flip the board flips end over end _________________ Does this rag smell like chloroform?

Keep in mind...
A backroll is tip over tail, whereas a frontroll is rail over rail.
The terms Roll and Flip don't necessarily relate to a specific motion or way of flipping, as you learn the tricks you'll just get to remember which one's are which. |

OK. That did not help!
A Backroll is not a roll according to intotheflats's definition. therfore do we just ignore that definition or is there some truth to it?

ok i'll do this in trampoline terms...... a back flip on a tramp is considered a back roll on a wakeboard..... a front flip on a tramp is considered a front roll on a wakeboard.....and a side flip on a tramp is considered a backflip or frontflip on a wakeboard depending which way you flip.
hope that helped |

| ontrider, a hs backroll is not truly edge over edge, its not truly tip over tail either tho. its a weird twisty flippy thing unique to wakeboarding and goes outside the general definition of rolls and flips. |

The Headless Chicken, well generally it's described as a tip over tail rotation.
To answer his question in the simplest sense, if you're cutting in hs a backroll is a backroll, a backflip is a tantrum. |
