| you wanna jsut "stand tall" when you get to the wake, so its like you are jumping on flat ground but dont actually jump. if that makes sense. you will wanna make a progressive edge towards the wake. so instead of just taking a big cut right away at the wake, make it more gradual and when you get to the wake you should be at your top speed. then when you get to the wake, this is where you stand tall. if it all clicks in and works then you should easily clear the wake. if you could get vids of people just airing the wake, that would prolly help. |

| My friend's dad told me it's all one motion. You go out and then make your cut. Don't stay out too long or you want get a good pull. Also get the boat driver go faster. |

Sloalom skiing will give you the habit of absorbing the wake with your knee's. In wakeboarding you want to do the opposite.

munkymush, It isnt so much one motion, as it is just getting the hang of it.I finally got my buddy into it, and today he cleared the wake on one jump... Fell about 50 other times, but he was fired up. It is going to just be timing at your stage, and keep trying to hold your edge or cut up and through the wake to get distance... You claim to have read all the articles and watched some vids, so you know what you need to do, I dont want to waste my time to explain it all again. Once again, once you get the hang of it, it will in turn be like riding a bike! _________________

When you cut back, hold your edge all the way into the wake and just stand tall. When I first started I couldn't get it right, but over time you get the timing down naturally and it becomes easy. _________________ Matt |

Timing is where it's at. I still screw that up sometime and jump about 2"
The other thing is to hit that wake hard. If you're afraid of wiping out, you'll have shitty jumps because you'll be worried about getting real air. Turn almost perpendicular to the wake, and extend your legs right before you get there. Your board will do the rest. |

Fast351, The only thing I notice wrong when students, or people do this, is the simple fact they let their hands get high, and sort of get pulled face first down... The only thing I could add on to what I said earlier would be hold the rope down too... You are going to need to charge that wake like no other, and hold on to the rope for dear god... My buddy lets go of the rope about midway through his jumps for some odd reason... Not to hijack this thread, but how could I cure him of this? I have no clue what to tell him, aside from just hold the GD thing... He says he feels as though the rope gets yanked away from his body.... I dont know? Its a blue blazer zero stretch... _________________
