Backroll

Ok, before ppl are like OMGWTF i have read like 15 post on learning backrolls and the thing on the main site but none of them were really able to help me with my problem.

When i try to do a backroll i take an agrsive(sp) edge at the wake once ive started to edge in like it says that you are supposed to but once i get in the air and start to do the roll i kinda go upside down and do a weird 360 off axis -.- my brother thinks i could land it before i dial a backroll and i wanted to know if anyone knows if this is because im trying to do the roll wrong or im just chickening out in the air -.-

BTW this is behind a 19 ft I\O boat with to tower\pylon :'(

EDIT i just read a post with a similar problem to mine but i find what he wrote was lacking so hopefully someone will be able to help me Very Happy

You are letting off your edge when you hit the wake and trying to "throw" the flip instead of letting the wake flip you. I had a friend that was doing the same thing. Make sure you edge all the way up the wake and use your edge to initiate the flip.

intotheflats, I agree. And make sure you are trying to touch your ear to your shoulder when starting your rotation.

intotheflats, he means put your back ear to your back shoulder. That'll get your front hip moving around into the rotation.

I've never done that. I leave the wake at a 90 degree angle and put my chin to my lead shoulder to see the way I am flipping and spot the landing.

Are you maybe talking about a mexiroll? I have never seen anyone put their head in the opposite direction they are flipping or spinning.

I am having the same problem and i was told that when i am trying to throw it i am looking over my shoulder, instead uf up and over my shoulder, i also have to throw my arms like i am shoveling or something, just tryin to help

intotheflats, no way man if you put the back of your head on your rear shoulder and look up (down when upsidedown) you can spot your landing waaayyyyy earlier.

well, this is just what a friend who can land about 9 out of 10 backrolls and some of the biggest and smothest i have seen, tells me what to do and i have the same problem

lol...the a tantrum is cake for me, but the damn backroll gives me fits!!!
