The video that intotheflats just gave you basically explains it the whole way through. The biggest problem with the Backroll that most people do is not keep the handle in tight if the handle is out from your body your rotation will be slower....If it is in tight you will spin faster.
Take a progressive cut into the wake, and wait for the pop, then look over your lead shoulder keeping the handle in tight. When you are spinning around you will be able to spot your landing with your head over your lead shoulder...spot that landing for a second then land cutting harder than you were when you left the wake. _________________ If you do not like your job, you don't strike....You just go in there everyday and do it really half a$$ed.....Now that's the American way - Homer Simpson. |

Agreed....
A backroll is not a layed out cartwheel... You will always underrotate, or if you throw it hard enough to get around you will have huge issues keeping your board in front of you.
IMHO... You need to find a side view of a backroll. It is not 100% over the top, you throw the board up AND behind you. This will generate sustainable rotation. |

Well lets get this straight... u look over ure lead shoulder? So thats my left shoulder if i am cutting in HS Regular? How will I be able to spot my landing? _________________ If the minimum wasn't acceptable it wouldn't be called the minimum. |

If you look over your lead shoulder - you will initiate the roll - that lead shoulder will also be the first to come over from the roll, so if you keep your head on your lead shoulder, as it comes around you will be able to spot your landing. _________________ If you do not like your job, you don't strike....You just go in there everyday and do it really half a$$ed.....Now that's the American way - Homer Simpson. |
