Hey guys. Here are a few shots of my HS wake to wake. Perhaps this should have gone in the newbie section, so I apologize. Anyways, any pointers as to how I might be able to get a little higher on the w2w? Sort of looks like I'm leveling off a bit before hitting the wake. Anyone else see that? Any other comments would certainly be appreciated. If I clean this up a bit, think I'm ready for inverts? Maybe a tantrum? Thanks a lot!

youre not edging through the wake, you flatten out up the wake. your goal here is to load the line (maximize line tension), and youre killing your line tension by letting off your edge. i would take a slower progressive edge and make sure to edge all the way through the wake. also sometimes i see you bounce your nose before you hit the wake. i know some people that think this helps but i disagree. i say to just concentrate on balancing your weight on both feet and standing tall off the wake.
if i was you i would learn wake to wake 180's and 360's before you try to stick a tantrum. you just dont look that comfortable in the air yet.

bhamglassman:

Thanks for the advice. I definately agree with you about the flattening out part. It just seems that standing tall while maintaining the tilt of the edge is difficult for me. Also, I'm not intentionally bouncing the nose of the board before hitting the wake. It's probably something I'm doing unconciously. You're also right about not being comfortable in the air. It seems that each time I leave the wake, I'm in one of a few different positions in the air. I want to be consistent. I've tried 360s but I can never pass the handle and I often land backwards, digging the entire edge and giving myself one hell of a whiplash.
Please, keep the tips coming. Thanks!

The one other thing I would add, besides edging through the wake, is exactly what bhamglassman (line tension) said but go about getting it a different way - you need to keep the handle in as well as edge through the wake to maximize line tension - keep your elbows at your ribs when edging in, and through the jump - your letting go with your back hand, the handle is coming out from your body, reducing your line tension and therefore reducing your pop

yup bhamglassman, is right, u gotta load the line. you should keep the handle by ur hips and lean back more which will produce a stronger edge and more tension, giving u more pop. if ur not too comfortable with leaning that far back, u just gotta practice.

Makes sense guys. Sounds very fundamental. I'll be able to get out this weekend and hopefully I'll post another vid with better results. Thanks again!

U need to start progressive edging. It helped me alot! First u cut out ofcourse, then when u would normally cut in all hard all the way, ucut like a sissy and "progressively" cut harder so that u r cutting ur hardest at the peak of the wake. Then stand tall at the peak of the wake.
