I'm curious, how many hrs. on a boat is too many and are some boats bound to break-down earlier than others?

depends on how well they were taken care of. i've seen boats with <100 hrs that were torn up something fierce. Then i've seen boats with 400 hours that are showroom condition.

I called Indmar last year and they say 75 hours a year is average ...

They said a well maintained motor can easily push well over 1,000 hours.

make that 2000/2500 hours.
it all depends how often the boat is used and maintained.
we made an average of 500 hours a year (school)and after 2000 hours
we rebuild the heads and it can go another 1000 even on LPG propane.
But the boats are used every day for 5 months and had regular oil changes.
Some of my friends have CC San with more than 3000 on them.

it is difficult to sell a boat with more than 1200 hours(i learned)even if the engine is tip/top.
Confused

my 01 bu has 315 hrs and the engine is clean enough that you could eat off of it. and the interior in showroom condition. The whole boat is clean and showroom.

I just yesterday went over 1,000 hours on my 2000 Centurion Elite V.
The engine and trans still works perfect and strong.
1 engine water pump, 1 ballast pump, an ignition module and coil. that's pretty much it beyond scheduled stuff.
A good detail would make it look very near showroom condition.

Too many hours? like said before is probably equally dependant on the care given during those hours.
