Just got F***ed by something i don't know

i just received a phone bill that charged me 50$ for a 1-900 call. I didn't call any 1-900 call and the other person that live with me is my girlfriend and i don't think she called a 1-900 number. The number is 1-900-561-6666. Any one received this kind of bill?! I also readed that some virus on the computer connect you to a 1-900 number and charge you a bill for that. I think this may possible because the call was made at 1:29 am and it was 37 secs long.

$50 for a 37 second call? call your phone company and tell them. my parents got a $900 phone bill once because somehow the # the computer dialed for the internet got changed to a long distance # and my dad called the phone company and told them about it and they said sorry but he uses at&t for long distance and for internet service and he uses them at work too and he told them if they didn't take that off his bill he would switch to another company and they took it off.

dude i saw something about this on tv. the 900 area code is a thing where they can charge you out ragous rates like a psycic hotline can. apparently it's all legal too. the most common thing was you had to call them to collect a nominal prize or something like that. call your phone company it could get turned over.

Yeah, I saw something about that too. It was on the urban myth show on MTV a few weeks ago.

I work for a phone company and that does happen where your computer will disconnect from say AOL's local dial up number to a long distance toll number, possibly even an international call or a 900 number which as you can see above are big $$$ calls. It's some BS anyway you look at it.

we had two calls to a 1-900 number, we called and they actually had a voice of the person that used our number to call the 1-900 number. Someone taped into our phone line. It was 37 sec and a couple mins to a differt number. Needless to say the p-hone company took it off. .

and i have a dead beat uncle that use to always call long distance and he would give our number to the phone operator so we would get charged for the call. and it would get charged nothing

Yeah that is BS too. I heard from one of our managers one time this customer kept getting calls billed to their number and we wouldn't credit them back because we had record of them being made from the house. Finally the customer left for work one day and came home unexpectedly an hour later and found his neighbor was breaking into his house to call porn numbers. Somebody throw away the key.

I've got an idea, block long distance calls from your home phone and use nation wide free long distance with sprint on your cell.....

ya my parents got charged for a 4 min call to some non-existant country. and they were all pissed b/c i was home by myself that weekend that it happened.
