Okay so from reading the the trick tip and various articles from this website its seems like the initiation for the scarecrow is very similar to that of the tantrum cutting in hard and letting off your edge as you approach the top of the wake only without letting go with your back hand. Is the scarecrow a trip flip as well? _________________ take the time to contemplate who you are and where you want to go. Find whatever it is that makes you happy and go with it. Yes. But don't think of it like a tantrum. The trip for a crow is easier IMO. just cut in with a good hard progressive edge, open up to the boat halfway up the wake and look down and under your front shoulder(right if goofey, left if regular). Keep the rope in close for thik and hang on wth both hands as long as you can. _________________ UCSB Waterski Team |

my tip for a scarecrow:
approach the wake with a good edge. hold the edge to the top of the wake. at the top, drop your back shoulder down a little bit toward the backwash of the prop that is behind you, and as you do that, toss your front shoulder backwards to initiate the frontside 180. try that on a trampoline, drop the back shoulder, toss your front. |

The trip is most definately easier and it requires no effort to do it other than the lean. _________________ take the time to contemplate who you are and where you want to go. Find whatever it is that makes you happy and go with it. You only live once so dont waste it. dont die with regret |

| ohio_wake_2008, no offense but I found your description a little confusing too. I'd say just throw it like a front roll and then drop your back shoulder down towards the middle of your chest. |

a-ok: Thanks for the link, it's great
I've been trying to get away from the "whip around" type crow I always seem to end up doing, after seeing that, I think I'll nail it next time out...
Now on the other extreme, if you completley layed out the scarcrow like a raley would that be a different trick? |

OHIO, I do both tricks very consistant. I just could not understand your explanation. dropping your shoulder on the way in??? i hate the description "THROW"
Rather hear about progressive edge, Load weight placement, hips. ect. ect ect.
Especially on crows i see quite a few injuries whilst learning. If you havnt got the line tension in you back arm for example you drop like a stone! quite hard on the knees.
I used to be one for scarecrow first but now i have changed my mind. learn front rolls first, although harder you learn to pop correctly. fronts are real easy to initiate but a bit of a Phuka to land. Sore nuts are a guarentee! |

| the mistake i always had with a scarecrow for a couple seasons was leaving the wake early. just wait until you are at the top of the wake to get good air and land it clean. |

ok so im hopin to land my scarecrow tomorrow because i started to ride away on some today but whats the proper way to spin it? my friend does the 180 throughout the whole flip but when i do mine, i do the spin when im coming down (kind of frontroll with a late 180), people say it looks really sick but im wondering if this is the best way to do it, because i always see people do the 180 throughout the whole flip.
what i do is i go in like im doing a TS frontroll but when im upside down i tug with my back hand to pull myself into switch. _________________ signatures are lame |

I always hear people say it is better to throw your crows like a frontroll with a 180 than layed out to the side. And this is the way I throw mine. But I always thought it looked cool thrown out to the side. Almost like an ole 5. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |
