when a smoker throws there butt on to the street ,let alone a lake or beach.
THAT'S WHAT REALY SUCKS!!!

I had an idea about 5 years ago where you would charge 2or 3 cents a butt C.R.V. just like can do ,and you would never see a but on the streets,lakes or beachs.

does anyone know how to pull this idea off?

throwing out a butt should be littering and subject to $200 + fines just like throwing a mcDonalds bag out the window

Ah, in the state of Washington....throwing a butt out the window is subject to a $250 fine...watched it happen, it's just that California cops don't have that much time on their hands....belive me smokin is nasty...and it's not just the cig butts, what about the bud butts????

what about some type of deposit or something. The ciggerrette manufactures could step it up, and if you bring back 20 butts from your pack of ciggerettes , when you go to get a new pack, you will get 50 cents off?

Man I can't stand sitting on the beach on there is a bunch of ciggerette butts laying around that is really nasty.I just think the smell of cigs are nasty and taste nasty also.

Rocko, the filter part is not biodegradable. That's the issue. A 'straight' unfiltered will decompose in about a year.

Dees - I have the exact same thought every time I see that crap! Cigarette butts are the single most digusting, and I would bet most prevalent, form of litter out there.

I think it woul help to curb the problem if there was a refunable deposit. All in all I'm not sure if it would make any sort of significant improvement though. most beer cans and bottles are $.05, but I don't see that many that are recycled. I do think they should fine people more often than not.

Only fining people 2-3 cents a butt would never been financially feasable to enforce the law. Start fining people a couple hundred dollars a pop and enforce that, I'm sure people will start tossing their butts in the trash. Or at least put them in a pop can before they throw it in the lake, Laughing

Only problem, PEOPLE ARE LAZY!
Even with the 10 cent returns on cans, people still through them out the window...

Personally I'm a Hiker so I pack out what I pack in and use that philosophy for everything. PEOPLE ARE SCUM BAGS, the welfare cases are the worst cuz they already think the world owes them something....we owe them a kick in the a$$....

We should register wellfare cases (people on the system more than one year) like we do sexual offenders, so every one in town knows who the dead beats are. How many people will stay on the system after that? I know I wouldn't want my name on that list...
