What do you guys set your Perfect Pass on? RPM or MPH? We tried it for the first time on MPH this weekend, and it didnt seem to have any problem, but everybody keeps telling us that RPM based is alot more consistent. Anybody have any insight on this??? _________________ Im going muddin at waketoberfest 2004

our favorite is by the tach with a gps mounted with velcro right on the dash for the speed. it seemed to hunt alot when using the speedo mostly thru d-ups. we found it to be much smoother running of the tach. _________________ Take A Rip! |

| We like the mph mode, especially for more aggressive riders as it adjusts to a hard pull on the fly. If the pp "hunts" too much for a steady speed you can adjust the sensitivity of the pull to compensate for that. |

I use MPH. I found it hard to get the RPM adjusted properly and with different riders wanting different speeds it is easier to switch quickly as most people don't know what RPM they like. _________________ Got Spelling? |

I don't have it but from an engineering point of view the MPH should work better. Slight changes in weight, pull, turns, waves, wind, etc... would effect the needed RPM for the given speed. Plus, sometimes when I'm driving in windy conditions the rpm can change by 300 RPM from upwind to downwind for the same speed.

We use MPH, just because it is easier for the idiots I have riding to remember what they want it set for.
You can adjust it to be more aggressive, I think it is the KPH? |

when you have a full boat, or you have the thing fully sunk with weight, the RPM mode works better for keeping a constant speed through turns, and driving d-ups.
MPH mode in those conditions wont hold the speed at all through a turn. Though, mph is easier to use, RPM mode does work much better in a weighted boat. |

We run fairly heavily weighted and found that the Mph workd well, probably better than Rpm when running straight, i agree withKyle Wells, though that it really struggles to hold speed through turns. Ours tends to drop about 3 - 4 mile an hour initially then overshoots by about 2mph when you staighten out. Still a lot better than driving without it and as others have said, Everyone knows what speed they like but rpm is really only relevant to individual boats and weight set up. _________________ "It's all good" |

This is the first year that I've had a PP so I'm not that qualified to say that much. However, I have been using mine on MPH.
I noticed that the manual recommended manually overriding the PP during double ups and adding speed. To quote "Double Up – The system always allows you to override it temporarily, so in a double up you can apply more manual throttle if required to keep the boat speed at the right speed."
I'm not sure if anyone has tried that......just worth mentioning. _________________ Jeff

We run with MPH. A couple things to note...1st when making the turn for a double up the system does allow you to accellerate (which we do) in order to maintain speed. As soon as we've completed the turn we pull the throttle back to it's original position (about half throttle). The other thing is that depending on whether you're turning a right or left and what side of the hull your paddle wheel is on will also affect on the boat reacts in the turn. In my VLX on a right hand D-up, I have to accellerate a fair amount(paddle wheel is on right side) and on a left hand D-up I don't have to accellerate much at all. This is with the boat running 2K plus people and wedge.
