my friend rides a hyperlite scape 116, he rides with the original plastic fins still and was wondering what would be the best fins to practice surface tricks and lip tricks? Very Happy

No fins at all. It's so much smoother and way more chill. I'll probably never put fins on my board again.

Watever floats your boat. The holes aren't a big deal. I didn't do anything to mine. I know someone that filled em with silicone or something though.

the candle wax is just to prevent water from squirting up through the holes. I had no problem with it though. -MG

i dont ride it much because its not mine. He went more towards 'skating and i went more towards 'boarding. He's letting me try it more often n i like it but uit feels like theres no traction.

I've got the scape, but I've never rode any other wakeskate.

I can break loose pretty easily, and I couldn't imagine the ride with no fins, it would be crazy.

I need a wakeskate that is totally locked in... do they make those?

I love using low profile fins-some traction, but not too much.

I love it.

It's all personal preference, but I find wakeskating way more fun finless. Some elitists will argue that it makes your style sloppy and that all your tricks will be sketchy... bs... I've seen people who ride fins and preach it that still sketch out all the same.

Fins don't make your style, ride what suits you...

Kampus-slide, No it will not. It just takes a session or two to get used to it, but it doesn't make their style automatically shîtty Rolling Eyes

i started on one fin with my flat cassette. then went to two fins on my first concave(4-trac mold) then on my second 4-trac molded concave i went completely finless and LOVE IT. it was VERY sketchy at first while trying to remember i didn't have fin to catch me but now i don't think i'll go back unless it's for wake to wake.

with two fins, sometimes i had a hard time getting out of switch but without fins, it's cake.

try both, don't listen to other people, do what suits you(the rider) best.

nickdakoolkat, the 116 scape is the worst board ever. it was my first skate. i bought it because it was only 100 bucks and i didnt see much of a difference and the shop didnt have anything smaller. the board is a pain in the a$$ to shuvit, but it makes shuvits on a normal board a whole lot easier. gripping it also made it more tolerable. dont get a scape, especially a 116cm

Nick Taylor, if you usually ride finless alot of times riding with a fin will clean up your style. ive noticed it helps with myself and others so if you try to dispute this i will simply reject your opinion and refer to you as a hippie.

I = Failure... It didn't do anything for me so I guess I dismissed it as hippie nonsense.
