| Well I'm a newb related to owning a boat...My dad just got a brand new '05 Mastercraft X-10 and I am extremely pleased with it, love the wake and it is the perfect boat for my family. It IS covered by the warranty and we are looking into it but the speaker system is not working. The stereo turns on and functions, so does the amplifier (JL audio e6450 I think), but the only sound that comes out of the speakers is a dull clicking noise or a high pitched low volume humming from usually one speaker at a time, may be just the tower speaker(s). Has anyone had this problem or know what it most likely is? My dad has checked the speaker wires for shorts and still no sound comes out of any of the speakers. A new amp has come in but it hasen't been installed yet so I am wondering, is it probably the amp, or a still a short, or is it a lack of power supply to the amp...the green power light pulses for some reason I don't think its supposed to...please help if you can... |

Sounds like the amp. I had a JBL amp that pulses for the on light. Could never figure out why it did that (didn't put out sound either). It got stolen before I could figure it out. Make sure you have power to the amp. Make sure the ground is good and check the remote wire. Sounds like an amp power problem.
If it is under warrantee, have them fix it. _________________ Reverend Dr. Jay

I just installed an amp in my boat, I wired the speakers wrong and was getting some funky sounds out of the speakers. Can't say for sure if that's what you're seeing, but if it's under warranty just ask what the problem was after they fix it. Always nice to know those things, in case it happens again.
edit- look at the amp manual (online?) quite likely there's a troubleshooting section in the back that explains what the blinking light means. |

if it's humming or popping/clicking it could be the amp. Our titan tower speakers worked fine last year and the beginning of this year and then i adjusted the amp so they wouldn't get muffled with low-end sounds so much and suddenly they started humming or clicking. at first i thought i blew them but then realized that wasn't it. could be the connection to the stereo too maybe. that's what we though for awhile. then we got a new boat and haven't worried about fixing the speakers yet:)...when we add them to the new boat i'll have to see how it goes. hope your speakers started working better. _________________ You stand on the shore and look out over the horizon.
