Okay, so the guys I was out on the boat with today tried to get me to do a tantrum. They say I can get enough air to be able to try one. Okay, I am willing to, but the confidence really isnt there yet. They tried to explain it to me and I do understand what they are telling me, it's just that it hasn't clicked with me completely on how to do it. Does anyone one want to go back to the basics, full detail, to explain this to me? from the beginning....cutting out toe side.....from then on.....Thanks!

Cut out about 20 feet from the boat and start cutting hard from the start. When you get to the base of the wake, ease off your edge a little. This will stand you up just a little bit. Look at the wake for as long as you can. Just before you hit the top of the wake, let go with your back hand and turn your back and the board parallel to the wake. Keep the handle in and try to pop straight up, the momentum you have will throw you up and into the trick. Keep the handle in tight. About half way around, you should be able to pick up the water and if you're a little short, pull the handle in to get yourself around. It should be like a back flip around the handle. You really have to open up at the top of the wake, go "over" the handle, and with the handle in, spot your landing and edge away.
The cool thing about this trick is if you hit the wake right, you will feel quite a "pop" and also, you can pick up the water real early so it's not as scary as other inverts. Hope this helps.

Biggest problem people have when learning this trick I think is they don't understand the edge change 'trip flip' properly. It's completely alien if your only used to progressive edge big airs! By not changing edge properly you don't get the pop up or the proper trip for momentum rotation. This can result in alot of crushed ankles when learning this trick. My advice is to go wide and get on the gas when cutting in. This will give you enough momentum to carry the rotation through even if your edge change timing is out. It takes a bit more balls at first but your ankles will thank you. When the edge clicks with you, you can slow it down.

I have been doing this trick for 2 years now and I am always trying to throw it larger then I did the last time. I have tried to edge up the wake and then throw the rick with my body and can get it around every time ride it out but the issue with this is your off ablence when you land. Don't try to change the trick up at all! Just take a smooth easy approch at the crest of the wake rotate the board as if your jumping in to the boat so you are lined up with the wake exactly and lean back. The wake will throw the board in to rotation. NOTE** if you come at the wake to hard the rotation will be fast and much harder to control giving you the potential for over rotation. I like a slower more controled spin.

I can't do this trick with the handle in close, I do mental prep on the way in and move my left hand to the center of the handle so it ia balenced and throw this trick with my arm fully extended. I have never seen this trick do with the handle in close
