k well i have been like 5 or 6 times and have the balance and everyhting down pretty good beacuse i snowboard, but i am behind a 17.5 sea ray out board so we have to have a pulley thing and it is actuly under the water but wear the rope hooks to it is jsut on top, and i have a piece of sh*t board that has no traction or w/e and i can cut out away from the wake really good and make a big spray but then when i turn back to hit the waek there gets slack in the rope and i lose most my speed so the most air i have got is like 2 ft !!! any tips on what im doing wrong and im even pullin the rope to my hip before i hit the top so any tips??? _________________ james |

Could it be that you are cutting out to much, making slack in the rope? _________________ Great South Bay |

What goodster said is not really correct...I would try using a progressive edge...Cut outside the wake and wait for the boat to start pulling you back towards the wake...Then gradually lean harder as you move closer towards the wake...This should keep the rope taunt (sp?)...Bend your knees and keep the handle close to your waist...I would also suggest tying (sp?) your rope to the "i" hook on the back of the boat instead of in the water which will help you get more air. Having your rope so far down will just keep pulling you downwards as well...I hope this helps...Post results _________________ ~~ "Half our life is spent trying to find something to do with the time we have rushed through life trying to save." ~~

You dont need a pylon, it will be a while before you start to feel the pull down. I'm getting a solid 5-6 ft of air and I cant feel it.

Here is the answer to your question. Throw your rope out in to the water and get your boat up to speed. Due to the fact that you are running an outboard you can't run a 75 foot line without going like 25 mph. So your up to speed and you got the line behind the boat with no one on it (smooth water) keeping the boat at what ever speed you ride at pull the line in until the handle is about 3 feet befor the white wash starts. I would bet your going to be at 50- 60 feet, you wat the fat nice part of the wake and tie off the rope there. Try to ride on that length. I think you will find it will solve most of your issues. _________________ "The best we can hope for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed."

Outboards don't have the i hook, do they? At least the ones I've been behind didn't. They have a rope tied from the left of the boat, out and around the motor to the right of the boat. there's apulley on that rope, you tie the line to that pulley. if you didn't have that, the rope would hook on the outboard every time you cut across the wake. It should keep the rope taught the whole way.
Sounds like it's the progressive edge suggestion that's gonna help. I've only recently learned about progressive edge jumping, and have yet to try it. but logically it sounds right. describing it as a pendulum was the best way i understood it. takea look at the picture. If you're on the outside of the wake and cut hard, you'll follow the blue line... BAD! But look at how the 'boards' are layed out. As you slow down on teh outside, let the boat start to bring you back in. then "progressively" turn the board more as you get closer to the wake.
Everyone else, please correct me if I'm wrong! |

After I stoped and looked at it a bit you are correct but a bit misleading where the arrow and then the wakeboards on the back. It might of helped if you labeled it with steps and progression _________________ "The best we can hope for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed."

you are pretty much correct nan0...when i posted my reply i did not know he rode behind an outboard...they dont have the "i" hooks and do in fact have the pulley system...This simply will not work in the future for him...The rope will always be pulling him down...he NEEDS a pole...or other suggestion....when i had my outboard all i did was simply hooked the pulley system onto the hooks that are on top of the boat but still at the back...that worked _________________ ~~ "Half our life is spent trying to find something to do with the time we have rushed through life trying to save." ~~
