butterslide is prolly the easiest rrick there is... just "grind" the wake. go up to it and spin the board so the middle of your board is in the middle of wake and your body is facing the boat... no hander... i wouldnt try it yet if you havent done a butterslide _________________ If your supposed to expect the unexpected, then the unexpected would be expected, so there wouldnt be any unexpected to expect... |

You dont need to be on the wake to put the board perpendicular to the boat. Either way I think no-handers are kinda and they're also a little dangerous. I wound say start jumping or surface spins before you try a no-hander.

Just started the wakeboard thing this past weekend. Some questions on this topic. My board has large fins fore and aft, can I still do this "butterslide thing"? Some observations from first run. Board has alot more rocker than a snowboard, is this to keep that fore fin out of the water? Edges don't seem to bite, there were times when I would turn and the board would slide out from under me, how is this possible with a 2.5 inch fin behind me? Could it be, when my weight is centered, both fins break free of surface tension allowing the board to slide?

JWH445, haha wow. I was born in Metairie. crazy, I've never heard of anyone else from there.
What kind of board do you have? Generally a board has more rocker because it gives more of a ramp when riding up the wake-thus more height. But what you said about the board breaking free is true. Although the 2.5" fins are probably still hitting the water, they will have much less effect when the board is ridden in the center. On a wakeboard you have to get your board on a much harder edge than you can on a snowboard to generate speed. Because you have to balance on a snowboard and can't lean into the rope. On a wakeboard you lean back and get the heel edge as far into the water as you can.
You can do a butterslide with these fins because the tip/tail of the board won't hit the water. You will probably have to do a little ollie to get there because it won't easily break free of the water which such large fins. Also when you are coming down from the butterslide make sure you switch the board back to facing the boat before your tip/tail of the board hits the water or those fins will torque you right into a faceplant. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

Wakebrad
We like to refer to it as God's Country here in Metairie.
I have a Gator Signature 139 with LF EXO Suc bindings, and I appreciate your input, thanks.

No wonder!!! I was always wondering how I could do all that crap (grabs, wake jumps, small spins) and not be able to do a butterslide. Ah crap, not only does my board have 2 .9" removables but also 8-.75" (guessing) molded in fins... shizz. Whatever, now i can do all the cool tricks and none of the ones.
