Are you saying that you can get some good air but you can't W2W? and you want some pointers on jumping W2W?

If so, I would say the two biggest things are;
1-make sure you have your rope at a length where you can go W2W
2-make sure your speed is right so that you can get a good progressive edge

I ride behind a 20' I/O at 21-22 mph with a 60-65" rope (including handle).

Progressive edge, stay crouched, stand up off the top of the wake Smile There really is no jumping action at all you ride the wake and streighten (pop) off the top.

Now, to expand on my last post, i ride 60-65 with no tower or pylon it's from the sky eye on the back of the boat. If you are the same, in terms of the ski eye, then 75' is way to long I have never been behind an i/o that puts out a clean wake and not to wide for w2w.

Dude... You fvcking suck... Thats for giving him obvious advice... What to you contribute to conversations rather than "general" information?

If you are having a problem, and dont already own a teaching aid, I would really suggest you pick one up. Its not so much for the redundant basic info, more on the lines of helping you visualize and see it over and over...

What I like to do, or rather, like for my students to do, is edge out, fell really comfortable, and take a cut across and dont unbend your knees at all... Cross the wake at a good speed, and dont even try to pop it or get air... On your next pass, cut in, and extend your legs about a 1/4 of the way there, just to pop it some...

Now, On your last pass, cut in all the way, handle at your front leading hip down low, and edge all the way into the wake, right when you feel as though your board is nose high, stand up... You are more than likely going to fall on this attempt, but you are going to have the correct form... Do the same drill again, and within 3 attempts, you will be clearing the wake with decent air.

your line sounds a little long if you are trying to learn W2W try shortening it to maybe 65 to 70? hope it helps and make sure u pop off the lip of the wake and keep the handle close to your body

Dont assume that everyone who graces this forum is a fuktard who hasnt researched, or learned about basic things.... It seems though, that all the answers you have given to people, are basic, common knowledge ones at that... Just shut your mouth if you dont know!

Again, take the sets using the routine that I suggested, within 3 passes you will be clearing the wake everytime!

oooooooookkkkkkkk well........ nyway i went out the last three weekends and tried all the things u guys said but i only got w2w two times. i like the technique its just that i dont feel like i am gettin as high as i use to. is this normal when u start out? and will the technique be more effective when i have a tower cause my bro does it the way i used to ( cuttin in and physically jumpin and bringin his knees to his chest) and his jumps look alot better than mine.

Snoop108, Do you have removable fins?
If so take them out, ride finless. This will make sure that you have the correct form off the wak because it will force you to use the edge of the board. Yes your board is going to be very loose, but if you can go wake to wake I'm sure you can handle it. Using the edge of the board through the wake is key, then load the back of your board a bit more until you get the desired pop

Well you need to use that progressive edge you know how to do and then stand tall right as your leaving the wake, keep the handle close to your waist. The angle of the board cutting through the wake. don't flatten the board out and ride up the wake, but like I said if you take the fins out that won't be a problem anymore because you'll fall. ro yor board will come up on the front very high and you won't like the way it feels to much. see if this helps at all

Snoop-

I'm riding behind a no-tower boat as well, until recently had extreme difficulty clearing the wake. And like you point out, I feel I have to sacrafice height to get the distance. Something I never really thought about - if I stand up a little right when i get to the transition of the wake, I get some decent air but won't clear the wake. I'll have to pay attention to how I release from the wake... what CKLIGOR says about keeping that progressive edge up off the wake makes some sense. I'd think straightening out a little as you hit the transition would give you pop, but holding that edge could definately give you the distance. Find a happy medium between the two and maybe get pop and distance?

More so, just keep trying!

nan0, If you look at the picture on the top right and see the arrowing showing flight path and put less of a slope on it, your going to go out more and not as high. if you want both hit the wake harder

yeah, SOMEONE went and posted pictures explaining how to do it (and a good explanation, IMO) while I was typing a reply...

Definately something I'll keep in mind next time I go out.

Thanks, snoop, for asking. and thanks, ckligor, for answering and providing pix.

A hard edge can flatten out your jumping... Just use a nice progressive edge and hit the wake with almost straight legs Wink

do ballast bags help you clear the wake also? i was thinking about getting some for my Regal boat with no tower to help the wake, would this help the wake get bigger?

I don't think geting ballast bags would be a good idea without first having a tower. Here's why:

1) When you jump, the low tow rope pulls you back down toward the water, making it harder to clear the wake.
2) Ballast bags make the boat heavier, and put the hull of your boat even farther down in the water.

As such, when you go to jump with no tower and a lower hull position you've increased the angle that is going to be pulling against you and you'll actually get dragged down towards the wake more quickly and more abruplty giving you even LESS hang time.

I dunno I'm just a newb myself but it makes sense, right?

Stop Talking.

The point of putting sacs in your boat is to push the boat down more into the water, witch inturn makes the wake bigger.

You can still get plenty of air with out a tower. Its all technique, if you cant go w2w without a tower, gettting a tower will do nothing for you.
Also, there really isnt a huge pull down, you wont really notice it untill you start going big.
