|
|
I found a Liquid Force Subjekt Balsa UC Ultra Core 135cm wakeboard on evogear.com... is this board any good? On that site it says that it retailed for $599 in 2003 and they are selling it for $159 plus shipping is this a good deal or is the board out of date? If you wanna see it i posted the URL at the bottom.

i dont think the board shape has changed, but basically the UC is balsa wood and all the LF ultra core boards were prone to breakage. the subject pops big and lands hard. its also very loose. _________________ www.TheLiquidPlayground.com

| scott a, thanks for the info... what do you mean by very loose? I'm a newb so I'm not up on all the wakeboarding terminology. And do you think it would break if it is just ridden casually during the summer months... no rails or such. |

it is loose - meaning it is squirly for a beginner. if a board has 2" or bigger fins, it will track in the water like a train on a track - on the other hand, if the board has smaller fins and an advanced shape (subjekt is an advance board with abrupt 3-stage rocker), it will be difficult to cut and build speed for jumps and just general cutting/carving.
my advice is DONT buy this board. you will need very good technique to ride this board successfully and it is not forgiving. seeing that you are newbie, start with a basic board - check out evogear's package deals and pick something up that is cheap and for beginners or maybe intermediate riders. then, once you know your riding style in a few months or by next year, you can get a board that is for intermediate to advanced riders that fits your style. for 90% of the riders out there, a beginner board is adaquate. _________________ Worrying is a lot like a rocking chair, its something to do...but it won't get you anywhere. |

| khoekz16, thanks for the suggestion... I'll go for a beginner/intermediate board. |
