Here's the deal- I've been wakeboarding behind my 19.5' I/O for three seasons now. I've gotten my basic skills mastered behind this boat. I've been trying 360s for two seasons now.
The problem with my 360s are the landings. I have no probelm getting the handle at this point, I barely have to think about it honestly. I am taking a medium to long, semi-aggressive edge went attempting them (next time I'm going to try a mellower edge). I know the pop, pull, pass routine, but I don't think that's my problem. The people in the boat say I'm landing slightly off-axis, and getting yanked (possibly from too much slack) a little off on the landing. Everyone says I'm really close, just spinning off-axis towards the landing. I know too that I am very close, and me landing them is long overdue, as even though my boat isn't the most suited for wakeboarding, I get out on average five days a month year round, so I should have gotten this a long time ago .
I know most of you will probably tell me that I am spinning too early off the top of the wake. I highly doubt this is the case, as the people watching in the boat commented on how they believe I am actually spinning too late, and I'm also careful about it myself. Also, I don't yank the handle too hard, which could have been causing the slack if I do so.
Like I mentioned earlier, maybe a mellower cut will allow me to keep control a little more. I'll try that next time I go out, as well as get a few video samples. Any input at all is appreciated. Thanks. |

| Try taking a wider approach to get rid of the line tension. It's the line tension that's pulling you off axis. |

do you use a strech rope or non stretch. If you have a stretch rope think about investing in a non stretch. It helped because if u didnt pull ureself in it wouldnt get slack. Thats my opinion though _________________ "Fun gives you thrills, but money pays the bills" |

When you say you land off axis, which way are you leaning, over your toes, over your nose, or over your heels?
I was landing off axis on my threes for a while (over my toes and nose, 50-50). I discovered it was because I backed off my cut half way up the wake, I guess it was because I was afraid of creating too much tension.
Going for front handed grabs with my threes cured me. I concentrated on popping and grabbing correctly, and not spinning until the rope tightened up.
A guy I ride with just recently learned a BS 360. He was trying them with his hands wide on the handle and his arms out, and he was landing way off axis.
We had him try holding his hands closer together in the middle of the handle with his arms closer in to his body, and he landed his fourth attempt. |

I have learned threes this year and had the same problem at the beggining of the year. If you can do everything else correctly then you just have to get the correct feeling of how much to lean to compensate for getting pulled by the boat. Once you have landed a couple and ridden away you will get the feeling for this and this trick will be just as easy as getting up! _________________ take the time to contemplate who you are and where you want to go. I JUST started landing 360's a few days ago after trying for about a year. I had the same problem you were talking about with being off axis on the landing. What helped me is on the cut, not to lean back too far but to stand straighter and dig in more with my heels for the progressive cut. It felt strange at first but after a week or so it feels normal. Also, my friend told me that your body position off the top of the wake is the same positon you should land in. So, if you have the rope in, standing tall at the wake, straight up and down, you should get it. I wouldn't slow the boat down any, all that does is make you have to work harder for the jump and the less you have to think about, the better. Hopefully this helps. _________________ go big or go home |

| Bump. I've landed three 360s so far. I can stick the landing almost everytime, except the handle gets popped out of my hand. I land decent, but then pop that handle on the landing. Any tips? Thanks. |

BelmontWake,
Keep the handle in tight as you spin, and try to get both hands on the handle when you land. It will also help you as you start to try for 540s.
Good luck,

i just landed my first 360 yesterday. i was doing the same thing. landing a little off axis and sliding out on the landing. my boy said i wasnt turning my head when spinning. next jump i tried turning my head and stuck it. i was shocked. i didnt pay any attention to my jump. that is second nature. i just made sure to pull with both hands and turn my head. good luck _________________ Woobnut |
