I started skating in June behind a Nautique and I always ride with wakeboarders who have the ballast full so thats how I ride. It seems that everytime I ride in a comp. or with someone new, they are always saying wakeskaters don't like big wakes so they empty the ballast and put no weight in the boat.
Now I might just be a retarded skater, but I like the bigger wakes. Its easier to do lip tricks and do wake tricks. I was just wondering if I really am retarded or is it just a misconception that most people get. So what do you guys like, the ballast full or not.

I like it empty just because it saves a ton of gas, and I'm always falling.

Full ballast...it's nice to get booted when going w2w and it's also nice to have a decent size wake for re-entry stuff.

On the other hand if you are just into shuvs and surface stuff......

Except on the gas bill! I will usually start out riding wakeskate, no ballast, then my wife wakeboards, then I will fill up the ballast sacs, and wakeboard. Usually at the end of the day, I will drain the sacs, and then wakeskate again.. Mostly cuz I suck at it, and keep falling, and it makes no differnce to me yet, except litpslides are cleaner with a peakier wake on my boat.
