ok, im 14 and learning how to jump the wake, but im having a little problem (or i think ) in the trick tips, it said to jump toeside, you should learn to jump heelside first. well, i can barley jump heelside, although i can almost clear the wake toeside. is this normal, or should i try to do something about it. sory that i didnt search if theres another topic about this, but i dont know what words to search. can anyone post some suggestions? _________________ <CBV>

| hey , I'm not ready for the tour or anything but It's much easier to land if your toes are facing the boat. with your heels facing the boat you are jumping "blind" meaning your facing away from the boat. That is unatural and you head will turn toward the boat. This is the problem area, you must fight that urge and look away from the boat when landing. otherwise your body will follow the head and you will crash and burn or drink a lot of water. It's great for your friends but a bummer for your self esteem. I tried to practice riding switch as often as I can then it all comes together. remember when landing blindside stay away from the dark side do't look at the boat. check your videos all the pro's look away from the boat when landing blind |

Most people feel more comfortable jumping heelside. Toeside freaks some people out because they begin to feel like they are gonna fall foward.
But what problems do you encounter when you jump heelside??? _________________ http://www.learnwake.com/amember/go.php?r=253&i=l1 |

i dont run into any problems exactly. i just feel less comfortable jumping heelside, and i can barley get any height or length in my heel jumps. my friend keeps annoying me, saying that i need to jump heel. _________________ <CBV>

In order to jump heelside just hold a progressive edge into the wake and extend your legs at the top of the wake. Just keep tryin that. Practice will help. _________________ http://www.learnwake.com/amember/go.php?r=253&i=l1 |

Having snowboarded for years and years, I know what you mean about having a strong urge to launch from toeside. The problem is then landing toeside when the rope is crossed over you. When I first started doing one wake jumps, I was doing mostly toeside. But I quickly started to favor heelside once I started going wake to wake simply because the rope never crosses over your side - its always pointe toward the boat in front of you. _________________ Long Island, NY & Canada Lake, NY (addirondacks)

| There may be a silver lining in this cloud. Most people neglect their toeside jumps because they find them harder. Some guys can do intermediate to tricks heelside and yet can go w2w toeside. Not that doing heelside jumps with proper technique is easy. Post a video or a pifc of yourself at the crest of the wake and you'll get some tips. |

As GuitsBoy said, When I started the first 1 wake jumps were toeside but as I started for w2w it was only heelside. I guess it is more natural to stand tall as you hit the wake toeside as well as you are not looking as hard on to the wake as when you are going healside. This might make you lose the edge/tension as you hit the wake heelside which will kill your jump! AirProfile said it! Practice!!!
