|
|
I landed my first backroll this weekend i was soo pumped. I learned them by cutting ts at the wake and letting go of the rope just before popping so i could just worry about rotation and not the rope, and i landed one! My question to you people is what will be the biggest struggle in landing a backroll WITH the rope? _________________ Hitting the backrolls this year.. |

| Congrats man! It sounds like you are doing a ts backroll. Concentrate on riding all the way up the lake with two hands on the handle. Keep two hands on the handle up until the last 1/4 of the roll so you don't underrotate. Spot your landing and ride away. Oh yea RIDE ALL THE WAY UP THE WAKE or you will take a ts digger which is NO FUN. |

ts backroll is correct and both hands on the handle you say.. that might be what i was missing i was definatley trying it with just the lead hand. Im very used to doing backflips on land which is why i think the no rope backroll was easy for me, i think the rope will be a struggle. any more advice would be welcome. _________________ Hitting the backrolls this year.. |

I'm hoping to be in the same boat as you next weekend, I just started working on backrolls (heelside) this weekend and i am soooooo close to landing it, i get my board flat on the water i just can't ride away. So hopefully next time I ride I'll start sticking them!!!!!! Its actually been all I think about lately, during summer school while my professor is blabbing about logarithims all i can think about is sticking a damn backroll!!!! _________________ |

| do you edge progressively for a backroll? i cannot seem to keep the line tight all the way round that's why it feels like im going to slow in the rotation. I also land on my butt a lot... any one have theories that will help me? I get the rotation until 3/4 where i end up hitting my back or my butt on the water! |

| You have to have a progressive cut... And if you think the rotation is too slow, hold the handle closer to the middle of your body (IE/ the hips) So that your turning circle is smaller... |

lots of common mistakes that people make when attemping a back roll (me included)
- throwing it too early - pause that extra little bit before the rotation.
- letting the handle come away from your body. keep the handle in after your progessive edge.
easy peasy japaneasy you have a back roll. _________________ www.highrollerwakeboarding.com |

| Do you lock your elbows near your hips to help you keep the handle in close? i think this is where im going all wrong.....since I don't think i am able to keep the handle close to me the whole time |

i dunno, the approach of thinking "screw it, im just going to try it and see what happens" worked wonders for the no rope backroll so i plan on the same for the rope backroll. _________________ Hitting the backrolls this year.. |

backroll, im working on it to, toulk me forever to find out a back role is nothing to do with a "backflip" which is why i could never throw one. heres what ive been doing and it works for me,
>cut in on a good edge, not quite a raily cut, but pretty close
>hit the wake and pretty much launch strait up off it and throw your head forward letting your board travel behind you.
>try your best to spot your landing, and stick it
now thats worked everytime for me, i just cant quite stick it,
any advice on the 360 handle pass _________________ www.inkclothingco.com |

i know its a what the f***, but a hs back role, is a front flip. but a ts backrole is backflip. But if your trying to do a "backflip" going hs, let go with you right hand throwing it back, BAM!!!! you got a tantrum

a heelside backroll is the exact opposite of a frontflip. on a h/s backroll throw your head to ure back ankle _________________ "Fun gives you thrills, but money pays the bills" |

dude, i know what im talking bout, a heelside backrole, looks nothing like a backflip. if you check the link i bosted above, youl see a heelside backrole looks like a front flip. your boardgoes up the wake behing you, and ur head goes down toward ur back foot, check any instructional vid. ull see it. peace out _________________ www.inkclothingco.com |

| i heard that if you're trying to land a backroll, you shouldn't let go of the rope because you need it to pull yourself through the rotation. right/wrong? |
