DrummerG, 3 feet?! On an I/O! I think you may be exaggerating. That is about waist high on an average sized person. My wakesetter VLX wake is a little over knee high with stock ballast and it is one of the best wakes out there.
About the wake being too big? Contrary to what many will say, yes. Just Imagine if the wake was up to your neck. By the time you were at the top of it, you would be out of speed! I think the perfect wake height would be just below waist high. |

| yea i know its hard to believe but i ride and i/o and w/ the trim at about 2/5 its pretty crazy. im riding bhind a 232 sunesta deck boat. its 2 tons dry (so its prolly like 2.5 w/ all our stuff) but its got a 300hp mercruiser bravo 3 twin prop. u guys are prolly used to seeing i/o wakes w/ the trim down but when u bring it up it pretty decent. but its bad to cuz the bigger the boat is the wider and more inconsistant the wake is b/c the boat wants to plane out(making the wake smaller) but when u slow down it could crest over. 3 ft. may be an exageration but it is big. i think you'll be surprised when u see his pics tho. |

My old boat was an I/O and when we trimmed it half way it cleaned up nice but its still about half the size of my VLX. BTW it was a 20 footer. Not too small. |

Nope, i don't belive you in the least. My sportfish is 5.5 tons dry and empty. With gear and people and fuel its about 7.1 tons. It leaves about a 2-2.5 foot wake at around 20 mph. There is NO WAY even a 3 ton boat leaves a 3 foot wake. I dont care how the hull is shaped.

| I believe it, you can throw a 3 foot wake behind an 18ft bass boat BUT, and I mean BUT, its 99% impossible to control speeds, get a fast enough speed, and blowouts are a constant prob at the necessary boat positions to do that so its almost pointless. I dont know about the bigger boats like you guys have. But throwing the wake is def doable. |

Slalomguy, no you cant. I have a 17 ft center console and the biggest wake it will leave at any speed for any length of time is anout 2 feet. My boat probably weighs twice wha any bass boat weighs even before ballast. Also the hull shape will never let he wake get that tall, think of the wake as a (albiet rough) negative of the hull shape. A bass boat has such a shallow V that it just wont go that high.

Thats with no weight in it at all just the wake at 22. I cut the top of the image of me jumping over him off but I will find some when I get home with weight and people in it and a full take of gas _________________ "The best we can hope for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed."

Yes that is big but 3 feet, i think not. Look at he guy riding. the wake isnt too much higher than his knee. I probably just feels big because t takes so long fo you to get up it but thats only because its not very steep.

Thats the paradox of our sport. Alot of things seem much MUCH more than they actually are. Take watching a video of yourself for example , when cutting into the wake you feel like youre going 1000 mph , but when you watch it on tape , it looks like nothing at all. CRAZY. Does anyone else feel this way , or am I just tired and retarted? _________________ "I just want something more than to come home in my cool looking SUV, sit in my king sized leather recliner and watch reality television on my widescreen plasma TV...How easy it is to care for someone when you dont have anything else..." |

RufioSwashbuckle, i feel the exact same way, but i know that i am tired and retarded.
btw, regardless of the fact that that's not 3 ft, that's a friggin large wake. _________________

I doubt that even a wakesetter has a 3 ft wake. Nah, I know that it doesn't.

What kind of boat do you have? In i/o's and ob's trimming up will clean it up. Also removing a bit of ballast or a few people will do the samw thing. Or just speed up

Let me guess, youre packing 18 inches of heat too... I think youre exagerating that 3 feet a bit, man. _________________ Long Island, NY & Canada Lake, NY (addirondacks)
