hey,
I am just over two months into boarding, and am working on my heelside backside 180, I have landed this trick, like 5 or 6 times, but today when I rode I could not do it at all. Basically i was wondering the proper technique to land this trick constitantly, so then I can take it to the next level, the 3.
also I think I am throwing it to soon off the wake, my spotter says that i am bent over alot, i guess off axis, any tips on how to time it, so i can stay nice and tall.
Thanks All, any suggestions much apprectiated! |

Try leaving your spin as late as possible. Ideally you should be spinning the 180 on the way down. With spins you want to set your axis as you leave the wake... i.e. if you want to do an on-axis bs 180 then leave the wake standing tall and over your board, then once you feel yourself slowing in the air then start to turn your head and pass the handle... should have much more control that way. _________________ Riding

| The best way to do a HS BS 180 is to bend over at the waist and pass the handle under your butt. I didn't say go off axis, just bend at the waist once you are at the peak of your jump. This keeps you from getting pulled off axis by the pull of the boat when you have your back to the boat. Sounds like you are doing them correctly, just don't start the spin unitl you are at the peak of your jump |

this is how i learned, and it helped A LOT.
slow the boat down to between 18-19 and go from the inside of the wake to the outside, and when you land, land blind instead of do the handlepass. it is a lot easier to do it slower becuase you learn to land blind and it doesn't pull on your arm too much when you land and the boat puls you from the back. it never pulled me around at all going slow, but noticed a difference going faster. once you do about 8 consecutively, speed the boat up to regular speed, go from inside the wake to the outside, land blind the same way and you should feel pretty comfortable. once you do them at the faster speeds from in to out, do it wake to wake. try a couple fs 180's to get comfy landing switch, and then do the b2 180. i have a tendency to do a handlepass bs 180 now, but i can land blind still.
good luck |

| Everyone's advice sounds good, so I will just add this: it really helps me to do a grab, and then the 180. I think of it as two separate tricks- the grab, and then the 180. This way, you will rotate the 180 late, and not worry about overrotating, and also the grab will set the axis. Good luck, they are a sick trick. |
