wakeboarder- austrailian for wally. j\k couldn't resist. what is the deal with all the inboard\outboards and outboards down under? i know i have seen some sweet boats down there. are they rare or what. a 70 hp motor couldn't pull me off the dock. bayliners or any ib\ob or outboard boat will have a really tough time keeping the same speed. i wish we had your conditions up here. drysuit is the only way to ride right now. and oh yeah, bring it on crossy, i suspect you will be the one with fruit boots on. we wouldn't call it the land down under if you were on top. all this is in good fun. thanks for the quality posts guys. later

i think one of the main reasons we have so many outboard boats down here is because we dont have the giant lakes like you guys have over in the US it is all coastline so there is heaps of outboards made to go out in rough water etc and i think also there is no decent wake boats down here cos for the last 30 years aussie boats have been built sleeker and made for skiing whereas US boats were built for the lifestyle making them big phat boats that can throw a wake! or maybe we are just all bum fishermen that take the kids out on the biscuit inbetween pub runs

I think the boat situation also has a lot to do with culture.

Americans like thier s#!t BIG! Australian boat design was always about making boats as sleek and 'sporty' looking as possible. Family practicality had very little to do with it. American boats have always been much bigger and catered more towards the lifestyle and family markets rather than the hardcore skiers.

At least now Aussie boat companies are starting to see the light. (Although I will still trust an American designed boat over anything Australian for the time being...)

I guess I should look at it from your point of view. It has to be fustrating to see the mark up on boats go from something reasonable to OH MY GOD!

I like you aussies being on here, especially when you talk to each other about boats sizes in meters or post pics of cars that we don't have over here.
